- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Health & Safety, or Environmental studies, or related degree from an accredited University.
- NEBOSH Certification in HSE from recognized organization.
- 7+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Occupational Health and Safety training experience.
- Professional training and accreditation will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with OSHA laws & Regulations.
- Knowledge of emergency safety systems and equipment desirable. Responsibilities
- Identify, mitigate and manage projectrelated health, safety and environmental impacts and risks in compliance with Kenyan legislation (e.g. OSHA Act, 2007), the IFC Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability, the World Bank EHS Guidelines and the ILO Labour Conventions, and the companies Environmental, Social and Health and Safety (ESHS) plans, policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and produce Site Safety Plans before any work commencing and prepare the Risk Management Plan.
- Conduct Job Safety & Environmental Analyses (JSEA) / Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and monitor implementation of ESHS plans, policies and procedures by companies employees and contractors.
- Systematically plan, organize, carry out HSE activities (e.g., inspections, audits, trainings, toolbox talks, risk assessments etc.) and systematically document these.
- Lead and manage the HSE Team to ensure that workplans are systematically developed and delivered upon.
- Develop and grow members of the HSE Team to ensure that they are capable of effectively fulfilling their roles and responsibilities.
- Identify HSE related gaps within the organisation and suggest/organise relevant training (e.g., in relation to First Aid and Fire Safety).
- Timely production and maintenance of key ESHS documentation, including, but not limited to, HSE Teamrelated Environmental and Social Management Plans (e.g. the Occupational Health and Safety Plan, Water Management Plan, Waste Management Plan, Biodiversity and Conservation Management Plan, Hazardous Chemicals and Substances Plan, Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan), Permits and Licenses Tracker, HSE Activities Register, HSE Incidents Register, Quarterly HSE Team Report, photographs and video footage
- To ensure full participation in the Performance Appraisal Review (PAR) process and maintain an uptodate record of all training and development activities/programs.
- To always act and behave in a way compliant with all company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to values and behaviours, environmental health and safety, ethics and codes of conduct, as it is through living our values that we strengthen the culture of our business and demonstrate our understanding of our Code of Conduct.
- Any other duties deemed necessary and relevant by the management in the smooth running of the Site operations.

Job SummaryOur client, an Energy company, is looking for an for their site in Kenya.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the companies HSE performance and managing the HSE Team to ensure that the responsibilities and objectives of the HSE Team are met.
He/She will be ultimately responsible for reviewing, updating and implementing organizational safety programs (including management plans, procedures and HSE policies) and conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures.
The HSE Manager is the most senior person in the HSE Team and he/she must strive to ensure that the HSE risks are recognized and that mitigation measures are identified and adhered to so that a safe and conducive working environment is maintained.
