    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    HIAS Africa delivers holistic protection to refugees and other forced migrants at heightened risk in Africa, through direct assistance, capacity building and advocacy in partnership with governments, other entities and beneficiaries.

    JOB SUMMARY

    To maintain a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy environment for the safehouse by ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the premises.QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:Minimum of secondary school educationCertificate in housekeepingExperience as a housekeeper for not less than two yearsknowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methodsKnowledge of cleaning sensitive materialsWorking knowledge of operating cleaning equipmentPhysical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bendAbility to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs)Outstanding customer service skillsProven ability to work effectively individually and with a teamAbility to work with people from different cultural settings.Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Population.Knowledge in PSEA and Anti-Fraud.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting.Ensure all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards.Be responsible for the efficient and orderly management of cleaning and request for servicing and repair for broken itemsNotify the supervisor of any damages, deficits, and disturbances.Deal with complaints/requests with professionalism and patience.Check stocking levels of all cleaning items and request for replenishment when appropriate.Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices.Check and ensure that all rooms, common areas, and back-of-the-house areas are clean and well-maintained.Assist in the general cleanliness of the offices, kitchen, and washrooms.operate mechanized cleaning equipmentMaintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition.Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacementsEnsuring the availability of cleaning supplies in all sanitary placesUse cleaning materials and consumables economically.Disinfect drains and dustbins regularly.Empty general waste refuse bins and make sure all refuse is disposed off. promptly and using proper disposal methods.Other duties, as required.
