    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    Umba combines advanced tools and techniques to optimize risk exposures in emerging markets that are currently underserved by traditional banking services. The Umba platform allows users to apply, receive and repay microloans through their mobile phone while using machine learning to underwrite using a risk score that is highly accurate and improves over time. umba has just rolled out a new online POS solution and is teaming up with some of the biggest e-commerce merchants to increase customers access to online goods and services.

    JOB SUMMARY

    Umba is currently in search of a Finance and Operations Manager to join our team based in the Kenya Office. In this role, the Finance and Operations Manager will hold a pivotal role in leading and overseeing various critical functions within the organization.Qualifications and ExperienceAn experienced banker from a finance and operations perspectiveA minimum of seven years banking experience in a senior management roleFintech/digital banking management experienceA thorough understanding of banking regulations in KenyaVery hands-on as this is effectively a start-upGood knowledge of payment systemsA great leaderWell-respected in the market with the ability to win and foster important stakeholder relationships.Experience of reporting to and managing a BoardComfortable working in a matrix structureA collegiate working style, while working with a Team located across the world in many different time zones.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Building and developing a first-class finance and operations teamBeing a key member of the Bank's Management TeamIntegrity of all financial records and reportingFinancial and management accounting, budgeting, planning, pricing, commercial contracts, and unit economicsPreparation and presentation of Board ReportsAudits; both statutory and regulatoryBeing a Business Partner to all members of the Management TeamAll treasury activities for the BankLiquidity and Capital managementChairing the Bank's ALCORegulatory reportingThe integrity of all records and data in the core banking platformOwnership and oversight of Settlement and ReconciliationThe Bank's operational processesOperational risk managementEnsuring AML and KYC requirements are at all times metManaging operational vendor relationshipsAs a digital bank, ensure optimal operational efficiencyThe role-holder must be approved by the CBK
