    Senior Policy Analyst, Capacity Building at - Nairobi, Kenya - Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA)

    Description

    The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is an autonomous public institute that was established in May 1997 through a Legal Notice and commenced operations in June 1999.

    In January 2007,His Excellency the President signed the KIPPRA Bill into law and the KIPPRA Act No. 15 of 2006 commenced on 1st February 2007.

    Duties and responsibilities will entail:

    • Promoting capacity building program for the Institute;
    Developing and reviewing the Institute capacity building strategy and policy;
    Ensuring stakeholder capacity building needs assessment is conducted;
    Developing training manuals and materials;
    Establishing and manage the repository for training manuals and materials;
    Coordinating the capacity building activity in the Institute;
    Undertaking Monitoring and evaluation of the capacity building programs;
    Developing partnership agreements in capacity building with key stakeholders;
    Undertaking relevant objective policy research and analysis to provide policy advice to government;
    Conducting capacity building activities for government and other stakeholders;
    Enhancing the Institute's networks and partnerships especially in capacity building;
    Undertaking policy analysis and provide policy advice to government;
    Developing research proposals to raise targeted funds to enhance sustainability of the Institute;
    Disseminating research findings through seminars, roundtables, workshops and conferences;
    Publishing of research work including referred journals and book chapters;
    Developing policy-oriented outputs such as discussion papers, working papers, policy papers, policy briefs among others;
    Contributing to the preparation of work plans to achieve the Institute's mandate;
    Participating in policy engagement forums such as task forces, working groups among others;
    Updating on current economic developments to guide in identifying policy issues for the Institute focus;
    Preparing quarterly and annual reports;
    Assuring quality of capacity building program;

    Developing content and publish in peer reviewed journals to disseminate research findings and contribute to the body of knowledge at national, regional and international levels.

    Job Specification
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

    Bachelor's degree in economics or related social sciences from a recognized institution from a recognized institution;
    Master's degree in economics or related social sciences from a recognized institution from a recognized institution;
    Minimum experience of three (3) years relevant work experience;
    Minimum of two (2) publications in peer reviewed journals;
    Minimum of three (3) research papers including KIPPRA discussion papers, policy papers, working papers, special papers as well as book chapters;
    Demonstrated ability to design capacity building strategies;
    Experience in planning and delivery training sessions;
    Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills;
    Training in Modeling skills and use of statistical software's will be an added advantage;
    Computer skills including relevant statistical packages; and
    Fulfil the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
