    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    Trees for the Future is working to end hunger and poverty for small holder farmers through revitalizing degraded lands.

    The Forest Garden Program is a simple, replicable and scalable approach with proven success. By planting specific types of fast-growing trees, fruit trees, hardwoods and food crops in a systematic manner over a four year period, families can positively change their lives forever. Forest Gardens consist of thousands of trees that provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood and a 400% increase in their annual income in four years.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The HR Assistant will be based in our Kisumu, Kenya office and reports to the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP). This role focuses on Human resource activities in the Kenya office. The HR assistant will provide HR and administrative support to the department and support the HRBP in improving employee relations and engagement and building strategic employee talent management strategies, creating an environment where everyone can thrive. The position requires confidentiality, building relationships, strong communication skills, conflict resolution, outstanding computer knowledge, and working within a dynamic nonprofit environment. Registered member of a recognized professional HR body in Kenya, the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)You'll be a great fit if you have...Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management and be a registered member of IHRM with good standing.Three years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO setup.Familiarity with HR Software and MS Office Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion. Knowledge of relevant Employment and labour relations laws in Kenya and HR best practicesAbility to promote integrity and business ethics; demonstrate mature judgment, trust, and open communication; ability to ensure effective teamwork, collaborative behavior, and team spirit. Excellent communication skillsBuilds strong relationships with clients and external actors. Ability to manage complex situations.Ability to prioritize complex work schedules. Pays attention to detail with strong analytical skills.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Participate in talent acquisition, recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of staff within the organization. Support the organization in performing background checks, preparing offer letters, and other official correspondences with respect to recruitment processes. Assist in Compiling and maintaining employee documentation and records and keeping the employee database up to date in collaboration with the HRBP.Accurately compile, organize, and maintain employee files and confidential documents either electronically or in their physical registry in collaboration with the HRBP.Collaborate with HRBP to accurately and timely process all hire transfers, staff changes, and terminations into HRIS. Assist in managing the offboarding process, including administration of exit interviews and knowledge transfer.Provide administrative support for the HR department, including departmental filing and other duties as assigned. Support the HRBP in conducting file audits to collect and maintain all required documents in the employee files. Participate in maintaining up-to-date records of performance appraisal information, grievances, or corrective actions. Assist in planning employee recognition events in collaboration with the HRBP. Together with the HRBP, assist in tracking staff work schedules to ensure smooth workflow. Participate in preparing periodic reports on the overall HR status of programs. Support preparation of necessary information to ensure timely preparation of staff payroll.Support any other HR initiatives and assignments as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
