    Description
    KyU is located approximately 115 Km North East of Nairobi on Sagana - Embu - Highway.

    It is the successor to Kirinyaga Technical Institute which was conceived by the people of Kirinyaga way back in 1971 when the former head of state His Excellency the President, Hon.

    Daniel Arap Moi C.G.H., M.P. (then Vice-president) launched the Harambee Fund Raising Drive at the request of Kirinyaga people.

    Kirinyaga County Council set aside 200 acres of land for the institute at Kutus and 50 more acres were also acquired at Kangaita area on the slopes of Mt.

    Kenya.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Responsible for driving University vehicles
    Undertake routine checks on University vehicles to ensure there are no defects, before and after trips
    Ensure all University vehicles comply with traffic rules and regulations by taking them for inspection
    Ensure University vehicles are always clean and in good condition
    Report any vehicle defects to immediate supervisor.
    Report all accidents and incidents that may occur to either the driver or the vehicle promptly
    Ensure Work-Tickets are duly authorized.
    Observe courtesy while driving the clients to various destinations and also to other drivers on the road
    Observe traffic rules and regulations and maximum speed limit always when on duty
    Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    Academic / Professional Requirements

    KCSE Certificate
    Clean valid Driving Licence Class A/ B / C / E with PSV endorsement
    Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers
    Basic Mechanical Skills
    GTT III certificate
    Certificate in first aid
    Certificate of good conduct
    Defensive Driving Skills
    3 years' experience as a Driver (accident free)
