About Mary Wanjiku:
Passion for understanding children's world and discover how their milestone takes place, drove me to be a teacher. I love my job and I have learnt a lot from children. I have patience to understand each child's learning pace and learning style. I love working with children and expecting to learn more.
Experience
Children are inquisitive, often asking questions you would never think of. This allows me to constantly research new findings and technologies to introduce to my students. Being a teacher is a lifelong learning process that equips me with up-to-date knowledge. I consider teaching an extraordinary opportunity to influence the world positively.
I have worked as a teacher in both the Kenyan Curriculum (8.4.4) and in the International Curriculum (CAIE). In the Kenyan curriculum, I taught as a primary teacher for four years. I worked with candidates' classes and they excelled well in their national exams in Maria Immaculata. It has been a learning experience since I started working as an international teacher at Woodcreek School in 2021. This has been a great learning opportunity and teaching too. I am equivalent to teaching the international curriculum. Through my desire to learn and teach the little ones, I am working as a class teacher in year 2. I have also been a Science Lead Teacher which has helped me to be a creative and resourceful teacher. Science is a fun subject that encourages learners to discover and explore more about nature. I have been teaching Numeracy and Literacy subjects too. Working with numbers is fun and accurate.
As a teacher in Woodcreek, I have a great role to play in helping the learners develop as all-rounded children. I am a basketball club teacher and I train the children how to play basketball. My desire for sports motivates me and I participate in taking children to competitions and encouraging them to have the confidence to win. I have been leading devotions where I follow our school's core values of Christ-centeredness.
Am currently pursuing Post Graduate Certificate Education International{PGCEi} course at Braeburn School.
Am looking forward to having an opportunity to your school. I will be excited to be part of your growth, development and adding value to your institution.
Education
I have learned child safeguarding courses from Educare and Alison online courses.
Working in an international school has also created awareness of how to teach and understand children.
Am currently pursuing a PGCEi course.
