    Summary

    As the Country Director (CD), you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic initiatives of CSI Energy Group Kenya, supporting the Group in driving growth, and ensuring operational excellence across the Operational Management Team ('OMT') consisting of all operational managers (Project Manager, Construction Manager, HR Manager etc).

    The role of the CD also plays a pivotal part in designing and implementing the Group and Company policies, fostering a productive work environment, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and partners.

    This role of CD is essential in helping CSI Energy Group fulfil its purpose of enabling a just energy transition across Africa.

    Key responsibilities

    Strategic Planning and Execution:

    Assist the Group in developing and implementing strategic plans to develop the business of the Company in Kenya in a sustainable way, while identifying and mitigating any potential risks during implementation of the strategic plans.

    Act as role model, lead and motivate the OMT of the Company to ensure alignment and smooth execution of all strategic plans.


    Set up or Review of Processes:

    Assist the Group in developing (or reviewing) and implementing new policies and processes across the organization as per best practices, optimizing everything from resource utilization to management of project investments.

    Provide necessary oversight and governance to ensure that the standards are met.


    Operational Oversight and OMT Leadership:
    Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to the OMT.

    Foster a culture of Respect, Focus and Effectiveness, Commitment and Accountability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Learning and Agility, Positivity, Safety and Teamwork, as per the 8 key cultural elements of the Group.

    Oversee the work of the OMT, ensuring success of the commercial activities and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budgets, to the required quality standards and to the customer's satisfaction.

    Support the work of the OMT when needed.
    Identify training needs and opportunities for the OMT.
    Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to the OMT.

    Lead the OMT to ensure alignment and smooth execution of the strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency across the Company.


    Key Talent Management:

    Identify key talents across the Company and/or recruit new key talents to enable the execution of the strategic plans.

    Ensure retention of key talents across the Company.


    Financial Management:
    Oversee financial planning, budget preparation and management, cost efficiency and effectiveness in financial management and reporting.
    Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
    Lead the financial reporting to the Group.

    Lead the OMT to ensure alignment and smooth execution of the strategic plans to improve financial resilience and profitability of the Company.


    Stakeholder Management:

    Lead and strengthen relationships with key client accounts, partners, government entities, and other key stakeholders of the Company in Kenya, ensuring clear communication and mutual understanding.

    Negotiate contracts and agreements with key stakeholders, safeguarding the Company's interests.
    Lead and strengthen relationships with the Group.
    Represent the Company in key forums and meetings.

    Compliance, Risk Management and Quality Assurance:
    Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements (including HSEQ) and industry quality standards.
    Lead the OMT through the various internal and/or external audit exercises.

    Lead the OMT to ensure alignment and smooth execution of the strategic plans to proactively identify and mitigate critical risks across the Company.

    Maintain a Risk Register for the country and produce a quarterly Risk Report to the Group's Audit and Risk Committee.


    Market Analysis and Business Development:
    Actively contribute in analysing market trends and identifying new business opportunities.

    Generate leads for the Company, and work with the Group's Commercial Team to deliver quality proposals to prospective clients, negotiate on terms and close deals.

    Stay informed about industry developments, competitor activities, and potential impacts on the business.

    Lead the OMT to ensure alignment and smooth execution of the strategic plans to grow and expand the business of the Company.


    Performance Management:

    Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitoring systems to effectively manage and report on effectiveness and performance of the OMT.

    Regularly review performance data and make adjustments to operational strategies as needed.
    Provide regular reports to the Group on operational performance.
    Lead, coach and mentor the OMT in improving their performance.


    Crisis Management:
    Respond swiftly to crises or emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
    Lead the OMT through crisis or emergencies.

    Technical competencies:
    Strong technical skills and experience in the Energy sector (EPC, O&M, Development).
    Strong strategic planning and execution skills
    Strong business and financial acumen
    Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    Strong data-driven decision-making abilities around investments, cost management and resource (capital, talent, time) distribution
    Good spoken and written English. Ability to deliver visual and verbal presentations in English.
    Excellent understanding of the Kenyan business culture and regulatory environment
