Monicah Gathuna

I recently graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Statistics where I attained a Second Class Upper Division. Currently, I am an Intern at Kenya Revenue Authority where I am in charge of updating our sector's revenue report, working with revenue, and mapping it against set targets. 

I have analytical skills, which include creative thinking, data analysis, communicating results and insights to stakeholders that can be of great importance to your company. I am also pursuing my Google Data Analytics Certificate where I have earned some skills such as data manipulation, standardization, normalization, visualization, and derivation of new variables/features. 

I am proficient with Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Power BI, SPSS, SQL, and R. I am also working on improving my data visualization skills such as tableau and ggplot2 since presentation plays a big part in telling your data story. I have a technical mind-set that enables me to break down a task into smaller steps hence simplifying it.

Really looking forward to hearing from you about the position and hope to work for your organization because the learning and exposure I would gain would be unmatched. I feel it would give me the push I need to get out of my comfort zone, be innovative, and in the process advance my career.

• Extraction, analysis and reporting of daily revenue performance for all tax heads i.e. VAT, PAYE, MRI
• Conducted analysis of revenue datasets to identify trends and patterns of VAT payments
• Developed and maintained a variety of reports to facilitate tracking of taxpayers revenue payments
• Extraction of Data from data management sites i.e. Jaspersoft for review against payments made
• Extraction of datasets from Jaspersoft, which aid officers in ensuring tax compliance from the taxpayers
• Draft and Issuance of demand notices of unpaid taxes to taxpayers
• Conduct analysis on under declared invoices by purchasers and suppliers as indicated on I-tax
• Educating of taxpayers on developing tax matters in collaboration with marketing and tax base expansion teams.
