    JOB SUMMARY

    Purpose of the RoleThe cleaner not only has to ensure that the restaurant is spick and span all the time, he also has to have basic knowledge of food, handling of chemical solutions and so on. He/She ensures the availability of clean dishes by bussing tables, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Perform general cleaning services of a routine nature.Operate appropriate cleaning equipments and utilize proper cleaning chemicals, safely.Wash, mop and polish the floors of assigned restaurant areas.Dust and wipe all counters, shelves, and tables, as required.Inspect and unclog all sink drains and remove garbage, efficiently.Report shortage of equipment and supplies to supervisor and ensure their requisition.Maintain proper usage of cleaning supplies and equipmentRemove the trash that accumulates at the end of each day, and ensure that things are kept in their proper order for the next working day.Cleaner has to often clean sensitive equipment like grills, ovens and so on.Sometimes the restaurant cleaner will also be required to clean other parts of the establishment, like the sitting area in a restaurantReport necessary maintenance itemsOther duties as assignedFollow departmental policies and procedures and service standardsFollow health and safety regulation.Qualifications / SkillsMust have KCSE and above and a certificate in any relevant fieldGood communication skills (Oral and written) in both English and KiswahiliAble to use basic cleaning equipmentHave working experience in a similar positionGeneral knowledge of cleaning products and proceduresSocial friendly and of high IntegrityAbility to handle heavyequipment and machinery
