JOB SUMMARY

Work at this level entails provision of medical services to patients and clients in the institution health centre and make follow-up of cases of patients referred to the hospital. In addition, provides staff development and capacity building both formal and informal to other health personnel working under him/her and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.Job Requirements for AppointmentBachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.Valid registration by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.At least two (2) years post internship work experience with proven performanceEvidence of continuing professional developmentKnowledge of Information Communication TechnologyCurrent practicing Certificate

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job DescriptionClerk and investigate common ailments of patients by requesting for laboratory tests;Participate in development of department policies and work plans to guide smooth delivery of health services;Conduct minor surgical procedure for patients;Participation in continuous medical education through seminars within and outside the university for emerging diseases and medications;Prepare departmental work plans for smooth delivery of health services;Provide counselling services to patients and clients with health challenges; Analyze the results from the laboratory and give appropriate diagnosis and treatment of common ailmentsParticipate in preparation of financial year departmental budget to ensure the department is running under the financial year budgetary allocationCarry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by a senior officer.
