About Rabecca Songoi:
I have more than 14 years’ experience in Capacity development initiatives and Institutional strengthening in the Eastern and Southern Africa. Am adept and versatile with numerous capacity building skills including generation of high-quality documents including case studies, presentations, conference abstracts etc., I have led in the development of various capacity strengthening approaches and strategies in decentralized systems (national and subnational governments); institutions of higher learning (Universities and Colleges), civil society organizations (CSOs) and the private sector. Coordinated knowledge generation, learning and management in various span sectors including Human resources, Communication, HIV prevention, Health, and Nutrition (H&N), Medical and Basic Education in various countries (Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique).
Experience
I was the Regional Training Coordinator for Akeso Associates consortium- funded by the Gates Foundation. I covered part of the Eastern and Southern African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique) in offering the HIV prevention strategies through Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Program (VMMC). I spearheaded capacity building of the project by conducting regional Partner Organizational Capacity Assessments, coordinated support for the implementation of the regional Capacity Development Services, supervised the development of quality training materials in accordance with the approved policies and guidelines, supported and mentored regional staff on capacity development approaches and led in the documentation of success stories. I was incharge of the development and review of training curriculums and teaching materials, coordination of the regional trainings, planned regular mentorship programs at individual and organizational levels, and timely submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports. I also guided the development of training manuals, preparation of training facilitations and evaluations, and supported the delivery of training with all other implementing partners. I actively supported in providing inputs for proposals developments to ensure they capture sound Capacity Development components as part of in-building sustainability programs. I worked closely with the monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting team to guide on the development and tracking of the training indicators and support the production of annual donor reports.
Previously, worked for the National Aids and STI Control Program (NASCOP) in Kenya as the Capacity Building and communication Technical Advisor for the HIV program in Kenya. I successful accomplished various deliverables including introduction of the training and mentorship tracking accountability measures for onboarding of service providers. Led joint development and dissemination of learning products with various implementing partners. Developed a national data base for all service providers, monitored and measured the success of service providers, developed options to strengthen onboarding resources, tools, and trainings including e- learning blended programs, guided the process of reviewing and the development of training materials for in-service and preservice providers. Continuously monitored quality standards in Capacity Development, documented best practices on capacity development and program implementation among partners, and offered collaboration and Networking with other capacity development organizations/institutions.
My vast experience encompasses working as the Training Regional Hub manager for IntraHealth International in the Coast region of Kenya supervising 5 counties (Mombasa, Lamu, Kwale, Kilifi and Taita Taveta). Where I coordinated and worked with exceptionally diplomatic and interpersonal skills to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a multi-cultural and virtual environment.
I also worked as the Training Manager for the Academic Model Providing Access To Healthcare (AMPATH). Where i was incharge of planning and cordinating all the training and capacity building programs for all departments.
