Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing project execution strategy, ensure the targets of a construction process are met namely: quality control standards, cost control and on timely completion.
  • Ensuring business continuity by sourcing for work through marketing strategies. 
  • Managing construction project resources namely; material, equipment and manpower requirements. 
  • Supervising, monitor and report Project progress throughout the project cycle to ensure on time completion.
  • Leading Project Progress Meetings for the implementation team and coordinate all other departments i.e., Architectural, Quantity surveying, structural engineering, Services engineering, accounting, legal teams, Marketing teams, procurement, subordinate teams etc.  
  • Monitoring, verifying and enforcing specification compliance of materials at various stages of project and ensure material test are carried out by the quality control department and share results with the consultants.
  • Coordinating with clients, consultants, sub-contractors and ensure effective communication through all available media e.g., Whatsapp groups, emails etc.
  • Inspecting and observing work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conformed to project specifications and quality standards. 
  • Working with the Health and safety officer to Establish and maintain effective Health and Safety system for the Projects strictly adhering to standards and specifications. 
  • Ensuring the company procedures, company policies are being complied with, Company Business Conduct and Ethics Policies at all times in conjunction with the HR department. 
  • Training and development of employees e.g. site agents, Independent clerks, and store keepers. The trainings include but not limited to report writing, project planning, work organisation, record keeping, research etc. to improve project performance and enhance individual career development.
  • Preparing submittals for Time Schedule for each and every project. Through preparation of Programme of works, network diagrams, preparation of realistic action plans, application for extension of time etc.
  • Ensuring a positive work environment and awareness by all staff at the site of project goals and objectives. 
  • Representing the companies to all site meetings and external project meetings throughout the project cycle and act on behalf of the company.
  • Writing and disseminating contractual letters to external parties. 
  • Notifying the Human resource manager on the job vacancies on site and together we interview and hire Construction Team members.
  • Providing leadership and management for construction team on all our sites.
  • Working with department heads and senior management to get the best performance from staff through establishment of policies and systems for task allocations and evaluations.
  • Advising the directors on the best approaches and helps put systems in place.
  • Laying down Site commencement strategies and oversees implementation.
  • Liaison between the head office and the site staff through the site agents. Passing up and down of information and deliberations.
  • Following up with the technical team on provision of information setting timelines in order of priority to get the projects moving, this is done through issuance of deliverables lists every Friday with deadlines to when the information is latest needed on site.
  • Unearth probable risks and come up with risk mitigation measures, unearth any site challenges and nip them at the bud by providing solutions.

Designation: Construction Project Manager January 2013 to December 2015

Responsibilities

  • Project inception: - Carrying out feasibility studies, Market research and advising the client on the most feasible project to undertake.
  • Advising on project management, proposal writing, contract administration and dispute resolution.
  • Project planning, execution, monitoring, evaluation and project closure; organizing, chairing and coordinating content for site meetings.
  • Property management: - Handing over of the project to the client, formation and registration of a management company, Preparation of lease/sale agreements with the buyers and tenants in conjunction with a conveyance lawyer. Sourcing of security firms, cleaning services, collection of utility bills and maintenance of the property. 
  • Design, development and dissemination of project documents, budgets, minutes and reports
  • Ensure day-to-day supervision of works on all project components in consultation with the various specialized team members
  • Ensuring timely submission of budgets and reports, working to identify and resolve problems within projects and troubleshooting problems on projects
  • Provide the necessary quality check controls and back-up activities for the project team’s activities
  • Organize timely mobilization of all the required project team members
  • Supervise defects rectification during defects liability period inspections and eventual handing-over of completed projects
