I am a post graduate holder and also holder of a degree in Finance. Additionally, I am A CPAK registered with ICPAK under M/No 29810. I am a detail-oriented Accounting/Finance professional with over 12 years’ experience excelling in handling most reporting and management functions.

Currently, I am working as Head of Finance for Mama Ashanti Limited. Previously I worked as Deputy Finance Manager at HCG Cancer Care Kenya Limited as well as Java House Africa Limited where I handled Administrative, Finance, Accounting and Management roles. 

Moreover, I have good command of most computer software like ERP, SUN systems, Micros Fidelio, Tally, Quick Books, and advanced excel. I also excel in time-sensitive, fast-paced atmospheres while resolving issues and motivating staff to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. Additionally, I have also demonstrated my ability to deliver on the roles I am tasked and delivering over and above what I am tasked with.

Head of Finance

Mama Ashanti Restaurants (Kenya) & Bite of Benin (Uganda) April 2020 to date

Currently, I am handling a number of roles for Mama Ashanti Limited, which is a chain of restaurants operating both in Kenya and Uganda.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sound financial health of the organization.
  • Budgeting & forecasting financial results.

Deputy Finance Manager

Health Care Global Ltd - Cancer Care Kenya; August 2017 to April 2020

I was handling a number of roles for Healthcare Global Ltd - Cancer Care Kenya and its related parties’ transactions that includes Healthcare Global (Kenya) Private Limited, Healthcare Global (Tanzania) Private Limited, Healthcare Global (Uganda) Private Limited, and Advanced Molecular Imaging Limited.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts reconciliation that includes bank reconciliation, debtors and creditors accounts.
  • Assist Finance Manager in budgeting processes and controls, handling statutory, internal, government and audits procedures.
  • Contract reviews to ensure compliance with the company’s policies.
  • Debtor management i.e. receipt processing, reconciliation and follow up for payments.
  • Ensure compliance of SOPs, policies.
  • Processing statutory deductions which includes PAYE, WHT, NSSF, NHIF and other deductions for the five companies.
  • Inventory management and reconciliation of physical stock with accounting software.
  • Liaise with the Office Administrator to ensure Procurement processes are adhered to.
  • Payroll processing and filing of monthly statutory deductions including WHT on professional services.
  • Petty cash control and main cash handling.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly MIS reports.
  • Processing of payment to supplier’s/service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Producing accurate daily, weekly, monthly and annual financial and management reports for.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts & inter-company transitions.
  • Responsible for company secretarial duties that include but not limited to drafting board resolutions, coordination of work permits and licenses.
  • Suppliers/service providers/customer account reconciliation.
  • Verification and posting of vouchers in accounting software.
  • Handling consultants’ payments in compliance with the companies’ policies and the statutory guidelines.
  • End month closing procedures that includes provisions workings, prepayments schedules and depreciation schedules analysis.

Senior Payable Accountant

Java House Africa Ltd; January 2014 to July 2017

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring supplier accounts to ensure payments are up to date and made as per the company’s policy and agreed terms to avoid disruptions of service delivery. 
  • Handling bank reconciliation by ensuring that bank accounts and credit cards are regularly reviewed and reconciled.
  • Managing Cash flow analysis, management and planning by reviewing weekly payment runs to ensure scheduled payments are within the weekly budgets.
  • Ensuring high quality and integrity of data and financial information.
  • Identifying irregularities and errors in transactions and timely resolving them.
  • Ensuring that contractual obligations to suppliers and service providers are met at mutually beneficial terms to both the company and the supplier/ service providers.
  • Following up on expected Credit Notes for outstanding claims on stock items and price variance.
  • Assembling the annual audit information for external auditors.
  • Ensuring the proper filing & safe custody of vendor’s documents, this included contracts, agreements, bank accounts, and other related documents.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete fixed assets register, including tagging & verification.
  • Analyzing supplier statements to identify items to be accrued before the close of each period.
  • Overall payroll management to ensure accurate statutory compliance on tax liabilities, PAYE, NSSF and NHIF.
  • Performing month-end closure activities.
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly and annual reports before the close of each period. 
  • Responding to queries from suppliers and advising them appropriately on payment plans.
  • Receiving and recording invoices, raising GRNs and following up on CNs where applicable.
  • Recommending ways of improving accounting processes and functions.
  • Supervision of other Assistant payables staff.
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in line with organizational requirements and deadlines.
  • Performing vendor vetting and onboarding on the ERP system after satisfaction with the company’s policy.

  • Managed to remit suppliers' payments timely as per the agreed terms thus increasing the suppliers’ confidence.
  • Reduced discrepancies that led to a more reliable Aging Report.
  • Nominated “employee of the month” on multiple occasions by my supervisors for teamwork, time conscious and building lasting relationships with suppliers. 
  • Improved accuracy in payroll administration.
