    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    Gilani's Distributors is a dominance in the distribution sector and is well known and respected. This is evidenced by the increased presence of our trucks ferrying goods on roads throughout the Rift Valley, Central, Nairobi, Nyanza, Mombasa Coastal region and the Western corridor of Kenya.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The chief accountant will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the organization. This includes ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported in a timely fashion, supervise settlements to creditors, financial statements preparation, audit process support and play an active role in helping to develop and implement the company's overall accounting strategy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Monitoring cash flow to ensure that bills/purchases are paid on time and that there is enough money available to cover upcoming expenses/purchases
    • Manage Supplier Payments - Review supplier reconciliations and approve for payments processing.
    • Oversee the process of validation of Invoices from vendors for payments.
    • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported in a timely fashion, and play an active role in helping to develop and implement the company's overall accounting strategy.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with external auditors, bankers, regulators, and external parties such as customers or suppliers
    • Preparing reports /statements for external reporting purposes such as VAT returns, regulatory filings, WHT tax and VAT payments.
    • Engage with internal audit team to assess the effectiveness of internal controls within an organization's financial management system
    • Identifying issues with accounting processes or procedures that could lead to future errors or misinterpretations of data
    • Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries
    • Coordinate with accounts team to complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines.
    • Evaluate computerized accounting systems and provide recommendations to IT team for performance improvements.
    • Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues and determine budget variances and report the same to management.
    • Provide guidance to other Accountants when needed.
    • Implement continuous improvement processes to ensure that all Accounting operational systems and processes are fit for purpose. Documentation of all processes are in place.
    • Advise the Company on the cost-effective operating model that will yield maximum benefits and minimize risks to the Company.
    • Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date accounting records for management review purposes.
    • Coach and mentor teams on understanding and meaning of the company policies in place for payments processing and the importance of compliance to KRA guidelines on the same.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure company policies being followed in various accounting entries and processes.
