The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) was established in 1975 under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU).
It is an inter-governmental organization and currently has contracting Member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Regions.Summary
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant (RCTI) will be responsible for processing payments, maintaining cost reports, managing account balances, reconciliations, managing invoices, and other related financial duties, in the Directorate of Capacity Building and Training.
Updating financial spreadsheets with daily transactions for the Directorate.
Tracking and reconciling bank statements.
Supporting monthly payroll and keeping organized records.
Providing administrative support during budget preparation.
Participating and supporting quarterly and annual audits.
Maintaining trainees' fee records.
Invoicing and receipting of all income received from the trainees.
Monthly reconciliation of trainees' ledger and liaising with RCTI administration to ensure timely debt collection from students.
Handling all trainee matters relating to fees
Assisting the Finance Manager in the implementation of trainees' debt management policy.
Supporting the Finance Manager in the implementation of all projects.
Supporting preparation of financial reports as per rules provided by the different partners.
Any other relevant duties allocated by the supervisor
Responsiblities
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
CPA Part I/ ACCA Level I or KATC Part II
Professional experience:
One (1) year experience as a Finance Assistant, or a similar role.
Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
Organizational and time-management skills.
Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
