ABOUT THE COMPANY

Moi University was established in 1984 by an Act of Parliament (Moi University Act, 1984) as the second public university in Kenya. This was on the recommendation of a Presidential Working Party, chaired by Prof. Collins B. Mackay, which had collected views from Kenyans about the desirability of the same. Courtesy of his deep and altruistic concern for and interest in the advancement of education at all levels in Kenya, not only as a professional teacher but as Kenya's Head of State, President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi pioneered the idea of a university in a rural setting.

MU/ADM/02/4/2024Requirements for direct appointmentFor appointment to this position, a candidate must:-Be a holder of an earned Master's degree from a recognized Institution, majoring in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or its equivalent;Have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (K), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification and be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and in good standing:Have at least twelve (12) years relevant experience in a senior position;Have valid registration with ICPAK or any other recognized accounting professional body:Have certificate in relevant computer applications from a recognized institution;Have practical knowledge of Financial Computer packages: andHave a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution is an added advantage.An earned Doctorate degree from a recognized university, majoring in Accounting will be an added advantageRequirements for Serving OfficersFor appointment to this position, an officer must:-Be a holder of an earned Master's degree from a recognized Institution, majoring in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or its equivalent:Have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (K), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification and be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and in good standing;Have served in the grade of Senior Accountant Scale 13 for at least three (3) years:Have valid registration with ICPAK or any other recognized accounting professional body;Have certificate in relevant computer applications from recognized institution;Have practical knowledge of Financial Computer packages:Have consistently demonstrated outstanding qualities of Leadership, Coordination and Organization capabilities at Top Management Level:Have a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution is an added advantage;Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; andAn earned Doctorate degree from a recognized university, majoring in Accounting will be an added advantageApplications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Deputy Chief Finance Officer (Accounts) will be responsible to the Chief Finance OfficerImplementation of an adequate accounting system as a means of maintaining sound financial records, which must recognize, classify, post, summarize and report transactions;Overall operation and supervision of finance function in the system;Maintenance of high accounting standards within the department;Supervision and development of staff in the section; andPerforming any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
