    JOB SUMMARY

    Director, Foundation and Institutional Resource Development sets the direction and leads diversification and growth of private foundation and institutional resource development to meet multi-year revenue goals.

    Director oversees identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors as well as delivery of innovative proposals, strategic partnerships, and compliance with all donor requirements and reporting.

    REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    Position is the lead focal point for private foundation and institutional resource development and collaborates across Orbis programs, country offices, and awards management and finance teams.

    Position supervises two staff and reports to Senior Director, Institutional Giving. Director represents Orbis to a diversified range of external stakeholders and audiences around the globe.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY


    Strategy:

    In alignment with Orbis Global Strategic Plan (GSP) and other efforts, deliver strategy that drives restricted and unrestricted funding and meets mult-year revenue goals.

    Oversee coordinated delivery of successful proposal development. In the US and globally, deliver tools, resources, and practices needed for proposal development.

    Outreach:

    Engage in strategic outreach, cultivation, and advocacy to raise Orbis's profile with potential donors and partners in global health resource development.

    Cultivate, and steward relationships with local, national and international private foundations, charitable trusts, USG and multi- and bilateral agencies, and INGOs to secure partnerships and funds to support Orbis projects worldwide.

    Plan and implement foundation fundraising activities, and/or engage multi-stakeholder funding coalitions as prime or sub applicant for major grant bidding opportunities.


    Cultivation and Stewardship:
    In collaboration with Prospect research, develop an effective Moves Management process.

    Act as Orbis's central point for matching foundation and government funding priorities with Orbis's programs and capacity as well as for future growth opportunities.


    Leadership and Management:
    Provide leadership, inspiration and accountability for foundation and institutional resource development in the U.S. and globally, ensuring that Orbis is strongly engaged with private foundations and funding agencies.

    Lead and manage foundations and institutional resource team; foster a collaborative, productive work environment and provide regular and meaningful performance feedback.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree required; master's in public health, or business administration or related field preferred.

    Knowledge of international public health, global health, humanitarian, and/or development world, demonstrating a nuanced understanding of complexities and challenges within the global health landscape preferred.

    Minimum 15 years of progressive work experience, preferably in a non-profit fundraising environment focused on institutional donors and/or private foundations and securing grants from $1+million essential.

    Demonstrated success in building and scaling pipelines to address both immediate and long-term organizational needs.
    Strategic thinker with demonstrated capacity to comprehend and leverage data to drive business decisions
    Demonstrated success in effectively leading and managing complex proposal teams
    Proven track record in navigating and fulfilling donor requirements, and developing compelling cases for support to extend impact of work
    Proven history of collaborating with USG highlighting a nuanced understanding of their processes and requirements

    Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills demonstrating excellent judgment and diplomacy: ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of professionals in in writing, virtually, and in person; works effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
