    Job Overview

    Our client is going through a period of growth and development. The chosen candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of cloud solutions in Africa and contributing to the success of the company as a leading technology provider. We need an experienced data engineer with a pipeline-centric approach to work with insightful data. This person will be responsible for identifying business issues and translating them into data solutions that enhance decision-making capabilities and adaptability.

    Responsibilities

    • Build and maintain data warehouses, set up pipelines, and deploy models securely and efficiently for both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Identify and implement process improvements, optimize data delivery, and automate manual tasks.
    • Develop the infrastructure for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading using SQL, Looker, and BigQuery.
    • Assist with data-related technical issues, support data infrastructure needs, and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
    • Create and manage continuous integration, delivery, and testing pipelines for machine learning and model iterations.
    • Document data engineering processes, workflows, and solutions thoroughly.
    • Analyze large datasets to reveal relevant trends and patterns for client objectives.
    • Design data models, algorithms, and statistical analyses to support decision-making.
    • Collaborate with teams to define data-driven solutions, create data visualization dashboards, and reports.
    • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation to ensure data accuracy.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data analysis and cloud computing.
    • Support data-related projects, including migration, integration, and optimization efforts.

    Requirements

    Education and experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
    • 2+ years of experience in building and maintaining data warehouses, setting up pipelines, and modeling analytical data.
    • Understanding of the ETL cycle.
    • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow.
    • Proficiency in programming languages like Python and SQL, with knowledge of Java or Scala.
    • Experience collaborating with sales and customer success teams to design scalable data infrastructures.
    • Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
    • Project management and organizational skills.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Knowledge of machine learning concepts is a plus.
