    Description
    The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the UN agency for human settlements.

    It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The consultant will work in the Knowledge and Innovation Branch, under the direct supervision of the chief of the Data and Analytics Section.

    She/he will be responsible for collection of data for select SDG 11 and UMF indicators (including sub-indicators and proxy indicators, where applicable) from analysis of censuses and surveys, secondary sources, and correspondences with custodian data offices and key informants within the target cities.


    REQUIREMENTS
    Qualifications/special skills

    A High School Diploma is required.

    A first-level university degree in statistics, population studies, demography, economics, urban planning, urban studies, or any other closely related field is an asset.

    At least seven years of experience as statistician, data analyst or urban researcher is required.

    Extensive knowledge on urban indicators' framework and data sourcing from censuses and surveys, city level platforms, global data platforms and correspondences with key informants is highly desired.

    Good knowledge on indicator standardization, indexing, and reporting is desired.

    Languages

    For this consultancy, fluency in oral and written English is required. Although not a requirement, knowledge of any other UN language will be an advantage.
