    Your role.

    The Senior Program Manager (Coffee, East Africa) is responsible for further developing and implementing a strategic agenda focusing on living income, climate change adaptation and mitigation and strategic implementation of emerging legislations (local and global) in key coffee producing countries in the region.

    The East Africa Coffee Program is part of the global Coffee Cluster.

    As such it needs to align with the global vision for the Coffee Cluster and actively provide input into the global strategy as well as translating the global strategy into an East African program.

    Currently this position covers Kenya and Uganda, with the potential to in the future expand to other eastern African origins, such as Ethiopia.

    Capitalising on the current coffee portfolio and networks of IDH across the world and in East Africa, you develop, drive and co-execute the coffee program in East Africa.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead the implementation and further strategizing of an East Africa coffee program that focusses on living income interventions and the implementation of the Coffee Farmer Income Resilience Program.

    Coordinate the regional operations and reporting for the East Africa Coffee Program, align with Head Quarters and take the lead in regional program development.

    Manage, coach, and guide the IDH coffee team in East Africa (Kenya and Uganda, with possible extension)

    Create and formalise partnerships as necessary; convene key public and private sector stakeholders on the IDH strategic goals for the region and represent IDH in regional (coffee) events.

    Ensure on-time and in-full delivery of the program, including budget, monitoring and evaluation and internal and external reporting.

    What you bring.

    At least 10 years of experience in agricultural supply chains, preferably in coffee, in East Africa.
    A degree in (agricultural) Economics, Business Management, Supply chain management, (agricultural) Finance, Development Economics or other relevant discipline.
    Entrepreneurial and professional skills, capability, and tenacity to drive continued business engagement.
    Experience in convening public and private sector stakeholders and a good network in coffee.
    Experience in strategy development, program oversight and management & (financial) administration and program budgeting.
    Experience in managing (sector and/or sustainability) coalitions and with international development.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
