    Description

    Main duties are:
    Accounting/Finance

    Handle accounting and financial policy compliance with expenditure authorization requirements from requisitions through country office approvals to complete support document trails
    Implement financial policies in the country to guarantee operational efficiency.
    Maintain financial and accounting records and receipts for all daily transactions.
    Ensure financial records are kept up-to-date with the latest transactions and changes.
    Create and maintain a realistic cost share for office cost.
    Contribute to financial audits in the country.
    Monitor all bank deposits and payments and report to the RFO where there is any discrepancy.
    Perform periodic financial analysis to detect and resolve fraud and errors respectively.
    Ensure monthly fund request is prepared and submitted on a timely basis;
    Manage the country Payroll and ensure staff salary and benefits are paid promptly while ensuring that all legal requirements regarding employment of staff are implemented (social security, income tax, work schedule);

    Ensure that country office accountant/s and assistant accountants are given the required support and guidance in NetSuite and ensure that the monthly accounting is closed on time.

    NetSuite

    Ensure that timesheets of all staff in the country are completed on a timely manner to facilitate the end-month accounting closure.

    Ensure that all transactions/requests from employees are done through NetSuite before processing

    Training

    Provides coaching and financial backstopping to the country accountants.
    Ensure the staff in the country understand and observe the IFDC Procedures Manual.
    Conduct induction sessions for newly recruited staff on finance-related procedures.
    The National Finance Officer shall also ensure newly recruited as well as existing staff are trained on the use of NetSuite Employee Center;
    Support the projects in reviewing the partner's and subgrantees' financial reports ensuring compliance.
    Ensure the financial integrity of the office by enforcing appropriate internal controls.
    Serve as the contact point between the IFDC Office in the country regarding Finance/Accounting issues.

    Budget

    Support CoPs in the country in their project budget forecasting.
    Support CoPs in their budget monitoring to track spending.
    Assist with the preparation and planning project budgets in the country.
    Assist in monitoring the implementation of the budgeting as per project guidelines.

    Others

    Monitor the accounting and compliance with expenditure authorization requirements from requisitions through Field Programs office approvals to complete support document trails;
    Provide support to the Country Director on other financial issues;
    Ability to manage any Country Accountant(s) that are within the office;
    Backstopping the other Country Accountants when needed.
    Perform any other duties deemed necessary and requested by the supervisors.

    Requirements
    Required Skills

    Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    Experience working in a similar multidisciplinary and international environment.
    Strong interpersonal skills, and team working skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships.
    Previous experience in Financial Management or any relevant experience;
    Excellent communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly, logically, and effectively
    Ability to assess priorities and work on own initiative.
    Great organizational skills and attention to detail in high-level finance tasks.
    Strong sense of integrity and personal commitment to the achievement of goals.
    Advanced knowledge in accounting.

    Required Experience

    A minimum of master's degree in finance, accounting.
    A minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role, Kenya CPA desired.
    In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
    Outstanding analytical and time management skills.
    Strong attention to detail, most specifically Accounting and Finance detail.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office software, and accounting software experience is desired;
