    About Mukuru Promotion Centre

    Mukuru Promotion Centre (MPC) is a faith-based charitable organization supporting communities in the informal settlements of Mukuru, South B, Nairobi. The Sisters of Mercy founded MPC in 1985 in response to the community challenges in the Mukuru Informal Settlements. It is situated at the heart of the Industrial Area, along the New Likoni Road just 1 km off Mombasa Road and borders the Mukuru Kayaba Informal Settlement.

    MPC endeavors to empower the Mukuru community through education, health, welfare and social rehabilitation services.

    About St Michael Secondary School

    St. Michael's Secondary School is a community school for boys and girls from the Mukuru slums in Nairobi. It is a mixed day school, providing affordable quality secondary level education to students from the disadvantaged community of Mukuru slums. It opened its doors in January 2008.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Requirements


    • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Education from reputable accredited university.


    • At least five (5) years relevant work experience


    • Must have a Valid TSC Number.


    • A qualified teacher with relevant academic, documentation, and experience in 8.4.4 Curriculum.


    • Ability to teach the candidate class for both subjects.


    • Deep understanding of the curriculum requirements for the subject and the requirements for assessment and reporting.


    • Ability to multi-task and maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.


    • Strong interpersonal skills.


    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


    • Have interest to work with the poor



    Duties and Responsibilities


    • To teach and impart knowledge to the students of St Michael Secondary School as contained in the syllabus of the subject.


    • To prepare lesson plans with scheme of work and other teaching aids that are necessary for all the subjects the teacher has to teach.


    • To give out class lesson exercise, homework, weekly and monthly tests to enable the principal assess the academic performance of the class.


    • To administer and maintain student's discipline in the school and outside the school and to be responsible for the overall administration of his/her class.


    • To take part in extra-curriculum activities of the school, together with any other duties and responsibilities entrusted to him/her by the school management.


    • Mentor the boys and girls to become responsible persons in the community.


    • Any other responsibilities assigned by management in performance of duties.
