    Developed an individual workplan;

    Developed and implemented a communication and visibility strategy and plan to communicate and promote UNODC ROEA Transnational Organized Crime, Illicit Trafficking and Terrorism Programmes and project activities, objectives, achievements, enhancing strategic messages, and reinforcing UNODC's mandate, capacity building activities and training materials through human interest stories, storytelling and photo voice

    Developed, designed, and produced communication and advocacy materials, products, and items to support programme and project activities, objectives, achievement, enhancing strategic messages, reinforcing UNODC's mandate, capacity-building activities, training materials, and prevention.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Create, maintain and update the unit's digital communication strategy and associated workplan at the regional level, in consultation with the Head of Programmes TOC/CT, program managers and colleagues;

    Create a coherent corporate social media identity for UNODC TOC/CT in East Africa, in coordination with the regional office identity;

    Create, launch and manage social media campaigns (i.e. awareness campaigns) (on most widely-used social media (like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik-Tok, etc.), to promote a better understanding of common crime amongst population, to deliver prevention messages, as well as promoting work conducted by the unit to assist states in countering crime;

    Create and edit digital communication materials, including articles, videos, photos, stories and illustrations to be shared on social media;

    Manage and update the social media accounts of the unit;

    Track performance of digital communication with SEO analytics tools and adapt the strategy accordingly.

    Create and maintain a photo and video gallery with content from unit's projects

    Assist with designing, production and dissemination of unit's publications, presentations and reports;

    Assist with Media Monitoring and flagging of crime issues reported in the media (online, print and broadcast) ;

    Participate in events and activities of the unit (conferences, presentations, trainings, meetings) and support the logistics when needed ;

    Begin development of a 6-series podcast season on Transnational Organized Crime, in close coordination with the Programme/Project Managers and collaborative partners, as a means of creating an informative and creative communications tool, to raise public awareness



    Qualifications/special skills

    Advanced university degree Master's degree or equivalent in digital marketing, digital media, digital communication, marketing, language, or communication A first-level university degree in similar field in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree

    Seven years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in digital communications, journalism, or marketing is desirable.

    Excellent digital communication skills and experience with creating and editing digital communication campaigns are desirable.

    Excellent command of digital design, photography, writing for social media, filming, or editing is desirable.

    Excellent oral and written skills and excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills are desirable.

    Excellent command of Office Suite Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is desirable.

    Experience in managing corporate social media accounts is desirable.

    Good command of design tools Adobe, Illustrator, Photoshop is desirable

    Experience with analytical SEO is desirable.

    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations working language is an advantage.
