    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) is a 100% state-owned
    corporation incorporated on 2nd December, 2008 under the Company's Act, Cap 486 as a State Corporation pursuant to the Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy. The Mandate of the Company is to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain high voltage electricity
    transmission infrastructure, the National Electricity Transmission Grid and Regional
    Interconnectors.

    JOB SUMMARY

    Qualifications & Skills Required:Must have master's degree in a relevant fieldBachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from a recognized institutionRegistered Professional Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)Must be a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institutionMust have eight (8) years relevant work experience

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Coordinating the development of policies and programs on substation projects, substation primary equipment maintenance, reinforcement, and expansionCoordinating and liaising with the power system and sector players to enable substations' operational functionsCoordinating and liaising with other sections and units in the directorate to establish linkages for enabling effective power system protection and assets management operational functionsManaging staff job performance, career development, capacity building, and deployment of skillsEnsuring implementation of quality assurance in the DivisionOverseeing the development of scope of works, specifications, and evaluations for outsourced related works purchasesConducting regular meetings with substation engineers and maintenance contractors to review progress of work activities and to program future worksMonitoring quality of work execution, progress, and completion schedule of maintenance contractsPlanning for reinforcement projects works and various technical matters related to substation maintenance worksSafeguarding the company's compliance to asset management system standards (PAS55/ ISO and industry best practicesPreparing analysis progress reports on the status of substation maintenanceManaging switching operations for maintenance and breakdown repair works when requiredVerifying and recommending payment claims by contractorsCoordinating commissioning and energization of completed substation projectsGuiding performance of analysis on asset management data to assist the Company in making maintenance investment plans, perform asset risk analysis, and spares inventory managementProviding technical leadership and guidance to the regions on matters pertaining to substations e-plant, HVDC, control, and assets management as necessaryEnsuring preparation and generation of monitoring reports on the health indices of all transmission assets and generating work orders for all required maintenance in the systemDeveloping and implementing technological innovations to enhance efficiencySupervising, appraising, and identifying staff training and development needsPreparing annual budgets, procurement plan, and work plan
