    Description

    United Nations and regional organizations; provides administrative and other support services to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat); provides joint and common services to other organizations of the United Nations system in Kenya, as applicable; and manages and implements the programmes of administration, conference services and public information and provides security and safety services for United Nations staff and facilities in the United Nations Office at Nairobi.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Under the overall supervision of the Programme Lead on Finance and Economy, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

    Provide technical support within the Flagship Programme 1 on urban regeneration, producing financial analysis, policy recommendations and reports.
    Develop presentation materials on urban regeneration and economy and finance training and capacity building materials within the Flagship Programme
    Conducting research on the finance and economy needs of other PFES teams and identifying possible entry points.

    Development of concept notes on potential collaborative projects between Finance and Economy/ Flagship Programme 1 and other teams in the section.

    Draft normative and strategic documents for the Flagship Programme 1 and Our City Plans in collaboration with country offices and teams.

    Provide technical support to the Planning Finance and Economy Section on communication and outreach activities.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Academic Qualification:

    First Level university degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Finance, Political Science, Development Studies, or a related field is required.

    An advanced degree with (2) two years qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the first level degree.


    Work Experience:

    At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of public finance, public policy, urban regeneration initiatives, and/or local economic development is required.

    Demonstrate knowledge of the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, and/or UN-Habitat language.

    International experience will be positively taken into account, particularly in the field of international cooperation for territorial and urban development.

    Work experience in the UN System is not a requirement but will be valued.

    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this advertised position fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable
