    Purpose

    The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for providing necessary information for the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring there is clarity in financial information.

    The incumbent will ensure the accuracy in records to support financial decision making and will collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.

    Key Duties/ Responsibilities

    Process and record tenant receipts, ensuring timely and precise documentation of financial transactions related to rent payments. Verify and reconcile receipts with tenant agreements.
    Investigate and resolve discrepancies in tenant statements by collaborating with tenants. Update records to reflect accurate information.
    Calculate, invoice, and collect payments for electricity and water services provided to Tenants. Ensure accuracy in billing and address inquiries.

    Record the acquisition and disposal of fixed assets in the accounting system, assigning unique tag numbers for efficient identification.

    Maintain an organized and up-to-date ledger reflecting the current status of fixed assets.
    Regularly reconcile the fixed asset subsidiary ledger with the general ledger to ensure alignment. Verify that all fixed asset transactions are accurately recorded.
    Perform physical counts of fixed assets on a periodic basis to verify their existence and condition. Update records, accordingly, mitigating the risk of discrepancies between the physical and recorded assets.
    Handle all petty cash transactions, maintain the petty cash float, and record transactions in the accounting system. Uphold accuracy and transparency in petty cash management to support day-to-day operational needs.
    Partake in the acquisition, storage, and utilization of inventory.

    Conduct monthly stock takes to reconcile inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock levels and issuing inventory to relevant departments as needed.

    Requirements
    Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required

    Bachelors Degree or Diploma in accountancy.
    Professional qualifications in accountancy.
    At least Two (2) years of experience in Accounting
