    Description

    Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013.

    The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Develop an in-depth understanding of study design and goals, and ensure that the study is conducted in compliance with study protocols and other regulatory requirements.

    Identify, Mobilize and recruit eligible participants for the study
    Assist in transcription and translation of the collected data
    Provide regular progress reports to the study coordinator

    Work closely with the study coordinators to prepare weekly study activity schedules including but not limited to recruitment, screening, administering questionnaires, follow-up phone calls, reporting of AEs to the study clinician and coordinator, etc.

    Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities
    Participate in regular research team meetings
    Respond to questions about the study posed by participants and any other relevant persons
    Coordinate the recruitment of community advisory group members and facilitate their meetings


    Requirements:
    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Community Health or a related field,
    Knowledge in community entry strategies
    Knowledge in recruitment and retention of women as participants
    Knowledge in consenting and interviewing young women on reproductive issues
    Residing in Nairobi for the duration of the study

    Great understanding of the study area
    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Swahili
    Ability to work with minimal supervision
    Good interpersonal skills and ability to work individually and in a team
    Keen and attentive to detail
    Ability to follow instructions and procedures keenly
    Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
    Flexibility to travel extensively within the study area and to meet participants in time and place of their convenience
    Experience working in a family planning related project will be an added advantage
