The Opportunity
We are actively seeking a talented content editor/journalist to enhance the depth and perspective of our blog and property news section.
For those who demonstrate exceptional abilities, the door to a potential permanent contract with the opportunity to join or even lead our core content team is open.
Responsibilities
● Compose compelling articles on diverse real estate topics, including market trends, timeless advice for homeowners, and current events.
● Review and refine articles from other content creators to ensure they meet high journalistic/editorial standards.
● Upload articles directly to our CMS, ideally with basic layout and internal/external linking (experience with WordPress is a plus).
Qualifications
● Demonstrable journalism or content marketer experience with a portfolio that's easily accessible online when we search for
● Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, ensuring top-notch content quality.
● The ability to generate multiple high-quality articles daily, as and when required.
● Solid Knowledge of social media best practices.
● 3+ years of experience as journalist or content marketer
● A self-starting, enthusiastic problem solver.
● A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
● Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research processes, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics (added advantage)
● Hands-on experience in content management systems Wordpress (added advantage)
● Knowledge of how to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, and Mid-journey (added advantage)

Key Responsibilities
Organizational:
● Develop content for BuyRentKenya, blogs & social media platforms
● Coordinate on-time delivery of content marketing tasks via Trello
● Participate in weekly marketing & content meetings
● Coordinate with the design team for visual assets
● Collaborate with ops & sales teams to monetize content, Cover industry events, PR scripts, and panel discussions
Reporting:
● Own content master and editorial calendar
● Analyze and report on content marketing impact on KPIs
● Report on top-performing content categories, formats, and posts
● Create clear action items from insights in weekly and monthly KPI documents
● Conduct half-year performance reviews and set objectives and key results (OKR) plans
Functional:
● Develop and execute content marketing strategy
● Writing and scheduling of weekly blog articles at scale
● Document proven tactics in BuyRentKenya marketing playbook
● Keep track of content marketing best practices
● Oversee social media accounts' design and blog quality
● Manage and moderate all content marketing activities on BuyRentKenya pages
● Identify keywords and content opportunities based on research and competitor insights
