    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) is a 100% state-owned
    corporation incorporated on 2nd December, 2008 under the Company's Act, Cap 486 as a State Corporation pursuant to the Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy. The Mandate of the Company is to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain high voltage electricity
    transmission infrastructure, the National Electricity Transmission Grid and Regional
    Interconnectors.

    JOB SUMMARY

    Qualifications & Skills Required:Must have Master's Degree in a relevant fieldBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related Electrical Engineering DegreeRegistered professional engineer with EBKMember of IEKLeadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeksMinimum of 8 years' experience in system control & power dispatch of a national transmission power grid, 3 of which should be at a senior engineer level

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Forging necessary linkages with other departments and external stakeholders e.g. Generators, TOsManaging the operations of the Transmission Operators (TOs) for safe and efficient implementation of operational protocols, procedures and agreements holding from time to timeProposing divisional budget requirements to the Senior ManagerEnsuring prudent utilization of divisional budget allocationSupporting sectoral electrical energy supply policy formulationParticipating in operational fora/meetings with related stakeholdersParticipating in the Central safety authorization panel as a memberParticipating in formulation and review of electrical safety training curriculum and rulesReviewing standards, norms and procedures for System operationsEnsuring compliance with Kenya National Transmission Grid Code & EAPP Interconnection Code during real-time system operationTaking responsibility for all manoeuvres on the transmission gridDeveloping and proposing training requirements for engineers in the divisionSetting and monitoring performance target for the divisionSupervising power dispatch and system operations to ensure reliable and quality power supplyCoordinating the execution of all approved generation and transmission equipment maintenance requestsProviding leadership during system restoration following partial or total system blackoutPreparing and coordinating shifts and leave Rota for control room engineersRepresenting the department in operational meetings with stakeholdersLiaising with relevant departments for updates and modifications required in the networkEnsuring the division has an updated database of power system data useful and relevant for planning, analysis and forecasting of the power systemIdentifying and mitigating risks inherent with system operations and maintains a risk registerScheduling drills – (blackouts and operations from emergency control centre)
