    About Us

    The Network for Adolescent and Youth of Africa (NAYA) is a youth-led regional advocacy network founded in October 2001 by the African Regional Office of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).
    NAYA aims at enhancing the capacity of young people in their diversity to undertake advocacy on health including Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and gender justice by enlisting the support of policy and decision-makers, influential leaders, strategic partners, the media and like-minded organizations and individuals in advocating for reforms and implementation of progressive international, regional, and national instruments.
    NAYA's vision is a gender just society where all adolescents and young people enjoy their health including Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.

    About the She Leads Programme

    She Leads is a five-year programme that seeks to promote the institutionalization of meaningful participation of girls and young women in formal and informal institutions in a just and inclusive environment for promoting gender equity and equality. In Kenya, the programme is being implemented in six counties namely Mombasa, Kwale, Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu and Homa Bay, as well as at the national level.
    Through Terre Des Hommes Netherlands (TdH-NL), NAYA is implementing the programme in Kwale County to promote the institutionalization of meaningful participation and influence of GYW in both formal and informal institutions in a more just and inclusive environment for promoting gender equity and equality.

    The Role

    NAYA is looking for a young, skilled and passionate Programme Associate to support the implementation of the She Leads Programme in Kwale County. The Associate, to be based in our Kwale Office will work with the Programme Officer to achieve set results.

    The Officer will be responsible for;

    • Ensure the successful implementation of the SHE LEADS project through efficient management of programme budgets and schedules, by ensuring that programme outputs are delivered to the expected level of quality, and by taking corrective action where necessary to ensure the project outcomes and impact are achieved.

    • Manage the relationships with key stakeholders such as government offices, education and health professionals, development agencies, civil society organisations etc in order to ensure the successful achievement of programme outcomes.

    • Contribute to the development of new projects and lead the development of new programme plans and budgets.

    • Develop partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders in order to create opportunities for new project partnerships and joint fundraising.

    • Coordinate the institutionalisation of Participatory Advocacy Model for the Youth in the implementation activities in the SHE LEADS project

    • Build relationships with key partners and stakeholders within the civil society, policy makers and community leadership

    • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant issues, laws and regulations within health through periodicals, seminars, training programs and peer contacts in the Advocacy sphere

    • Prepare field reports regarding advocacy initiatives and progress

    • Represent the organization externally at meetings and events organized and/or attended by key advocacy stakeholders

    • Share and leverage evidence, engage directly with key stakeholders, cultivate and leverage champions

    • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

      Qualifications, Skills and Experience (essential/ desirable)
      • Minimum one year' work experience especially in NGO

      • Demonstrate experience multiple projects (essential)

      • Experience in writing donor reports, including narrative and results matrices (essential)

      • Experience leading or working in cross-functional teams or interdepartmental teams (desirable)

      • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills (essential) f. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office package (essential)

      • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills (essential)

      • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Economic, Community Development or related subject or equivalent proven employment experience (essential)
