Feb 2021 to Date Ministry of Health - Division of Ophthalmic Services Position: Health Records and Information Officer/ Asst. Project Officer/M&E Officer Key Achievements:  Improved the eye program data reporting rate from 38% in 2021 when I joined to 78.8% now. I have projected that 100% reporting will be achieved in 2025.  I did a quotation and installed the eye unit office server which was bought by an implementing partner to help in data management.  Improved data quality in most counties across the country through frequent Data Quality Assessment (DQA) and technical supportive supervision  I lobbied for the inclusion of eye health indicators into the health sector strategic plan  Coded all eye conditions in eye health policy guidelines using the ICD-11 of the International Classification of Diseases booklet. Responsibilities:  Oversee the design and distribution of medical tools and registers in line with the national monitoring and evaluation framework.  Support the integration of Kenya Master Health Facility List and Kenya Health Information Systems.  Perform data quality checks of patient metadata in the KHIS Tracker and KHIS Aggregate using the WHO data quality tool.  Support in data cleaning, approving facilities and community units in Kenya Master Health Facility List.  Draft concept notes on eHealth and digital health solutions business processes and formulation of guidelines on disclosure, confidentiality, safety, and security of health records and information.  Supported in conducting the cataract surgery outcome monitoring in three counties of Siaya, Busia, and Homabay using Electronic Cataract Surgical Outcome Monitoring (CSOM). The audit helped in informing the success rate of cataract surgery among patients in the mentioned counties and the age distribution of the operated patients.  Supported the generation of monthly reports on the Kenya Health Sector Strategic Plan [KHSSP/UHC] core Indicators, quarterly bulletins, and annual statistical reports from KHIS on a real-time basis. The reports informed departments’ decisionmaking including recruitment and financing.  Conducted data quality audits (DQA) in thirty counties in the MOH 204B registers to determine the discrepancies of eye health data over-reporting and under-reporting in county health facilities. The DQA helped the county's Ministry of Health in planning and fair distribution of resources.  Supported the operationalization of partners' work plans like Fred Hollows Foundation, C.B.M. Global, C.B.M International Sight Savers, etc. The collaboration helped in improving the eye health uptake and eye data reporting rate in select facilities and Counties.  As a member of the National Technical Eye Health Working Group, I participated in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), MOH data collection tools, strategic plans, eye health policy documents, and scope of practice for eye care workers among others. Jun - Sept 2023 Christian Blind Mission Position: Research Assistant-Rapid Assessment on Avoidable Blindness (RAAB 7 Responsibilities:  Took visual acuity of patients using PEEK vision software  Assessed patients aged 50 and above within my cluster for any eye-related problem  Gave out readers to study participants who have vision problems  Examined 50 patients daily on eye-related complications  Referred serious cases to the nearest eye clinic for proper attention  Followed up on the progress of the referred patients  Ensured that the research adheres to ethical guidelines and that participants' rights and privacy are respected  Prepared detailed and well-structured reports summarizing the research findings. Apr - May 2023 African Population and Health Research Centre Position: Research Assistant-Kenya Abortion Study/Health Facility Study Responsibilities:  Recruited health facility professionals knowledgeable of Post-Abortion Care (PAC) at each selected health facility.  Obtained and documented informed consent from the study participants before involvement in the interviews.  Conducted interviews with all recruited health facility professionals who have consented.  Reviewed collected data to ensure all questions were completed before online submission.
