About Sophie Amutavy:
As the Director of Legal Services at Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), I lead a team of legal experts who provide strategic advice and support to the Committee and management on governance, legal, regulatory, and compliance matters related to the implementation of devolution in Kenya. I have over 10 years of experience in the legal and international relations field, with a focus on intergovernmental disputes, policy formulation, alternative dispute resolution, and diplomacy.
My core competencies include legal research and analysis, drafting and reviewing legislation and contracts, negotiating and mediating agreements, representing and advocating for the Committee in various forums, and facilitating stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
I hold a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from the United States International University - Africa, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Bachelor of Laws from Moi University. I am also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a published author on intergovernmental relations and ADR. My mission is to contribute to the development and strengthening of devolution and intergovernmental relations in Kenya, and to promote human rights, peace, and justice.
