As assistant to the Regional Energy Expert for East Africa, my tasks involved planning, design and implementation of renewable energy projects, assistance in liaising with energy sector contacts, organizing meetings, managing office correspondence, finance management and general office administration.
My greatest achievement was assisting to fundraise over 2.5 million Euros by assisting the GTZ Programme for Private Sector Development in Agriculture biogas and stove components obtain funding for their activities from the EU Energy Facility and Dutch funded EnDev projects respectively.

My tasks involved planning, design and implementation of various renewable energy projects including one that assessed the potential of use of Wind energy by the water resource management agencies in Kenya. I was also responsible for office correspondence, finance management and general office administration.
My greatest achievement was assisting the IFC Lighting Africa team to carry out a scoping mission in Kenya to identify potential partners for the project. The project is still ongoing with great success.

My daily tasks included:
Report compilation and submission, handling correspondence and telephone communication related to the project, assistance in project planning and implementation, filing and sorting of relevant project data, meeting scheduling and minute taking, literature review and data collection.
My greatest achievement was being the National co-ordinator for data collection on charcoal production, supply and distribution in Kenya’s coast province in collaboration with the regional Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) Gede Office. This contributed to the production of the Kenya charcoal study report that is still used to date as the basis of Kenya’s current situation on Charcoal. I also assisted in the design and disbursement of the data collection tools (interview schedules).

My daily tasks included:

Workshop rapporteur UNDP Kenya Energy Policy Workshop
I participated in a workshop on National Energy Policy that was facilitated by this firm, in conjunction with UNDP. With two other rapporteurs, I took notes of the proceedings and assisted in compiling the workshop reports. This contributed to the Sessional paper No. 4 for Kenya’s energy policy.
