About Matangwe Enos:

I am writing to express my interest in the social work intervention services and community development. I have full understanding of several aspects that bring community work activities and interventions to success. I am primed for a progressive approach to social work and community development

Additionally, I possess strong knowledge of assisting communities in identifying their felt needs, management of the same and community resource mobilization.

Moreover, I will bring a proven ability to manage key resources in the most effective way, excellent oral, written and presentation skills besides demonstrated ability to meet strict and high quality implementation and reporting deadlines. Following my immediate employment, I have the experience and passion to work in vulnerable communities, psycho-social counseling besides strong analytical and problem solving skills.

I have over 10 years of progressive professional experience of programmes with The Ministry of Gender and Social Development Services, County Government and NGOs. I have Diploma in Social Work and Community Development from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. I possess strong interpersonal skills and able to work with people at different levels including children, community members, church leaders, and donor agencies.

As a qualified and seasoned professional in providing high quality care and support to the community, I feel justified in answering to any social services community development opportunity. I am efficient and enthusiastic and believe that I would be an ideal candidate as I look forward to exploiting my potentials. I am keen to work for any ambitious institution.

I am of the opinion that following the stated responsibilities, requirements and the experience coupled with my background, we can take the mission of the agency forward in a manner befitting its reputation and objectives. Experience

January 2021 – December 2021 St. Joseph Development Programmes.

Position: Social Worker/Programmes Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Organise and participate in community mobilization and sensitization for the women empowerment program
  • Work closely with other program staff and Community Health Volunteers to carry out program activities: HTS, other program staff and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) to Conduct HTS through community outreaches.
  • Recruitment and enrolment of the most at risk adolescent girls and women into the women empowerment program.
  • Work with clients, family and health care providers to develop individualized plan of the care on HIV/AIDS and Women Empowerment intervention strategies.
  • To participate in interdisciplinary team meetings 
  • To provide information to assist safe transition care for beneficiaries.
  • Provide support to support groups – providing technical guidance and leadership when called upon by the Counsellor.
  • Advocate ensuring that client’s needs and choices are represented and supported in the community and by the programme.
  • Identify women empowerment interventions mitigate against risk factors that increase vulnerability or exposure to HIV and GBV.
  • Work closely with Community Health Volunteers offering support in the development, updating and overseeing the implementation of their Work Plans/Action Plans.
  • Organize seminars/workshops/meetings regarding interventions on women empowerment programming including economic / social empowerment.
  • Training of beneficiaries on income generation, business management, marketing, business innovations, business networking, and savings schemes and making required recommendations.
  • Participate in trainings and forums on women empowerment.

 Other duties:

  • Support M&E Officer to gather data on a weekly, monthly and quarterly to ensure timely preparation of the  field work reports 
  • Participate in brainstorming  process on proposals to enhance resource mobilization
  • Requisition  of      nutritional supplements  and their distribution
  • Coordinate day – to – day Programme management activities, resources and information to ensure ownership of the projects by project officers and staff.
  • Guiding team members on the policies, practices and safeguarding to be adhered to when dealing with children and adolescents in the course of gathering information on women empowerment and the giving of informed consent in such cases.
  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to the Programme beneficiaries, staff and Director.
  • Participate and provide guidance regarding the enrolment of new clients targeted by the projects.
  • Break down projects into doable actions and set timeframes liaising with project officers to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Undertake reviews of all Programme requisitions regarding project expenditure.
  • Coordinate project planning, development and participate in proposal development.
  • Help prepare project budgets and support in tracking budget utilization.
  • Provide technical inputs required by MEAL Coordinator in designing tools to monitor project implementation, processing and delivery.
  • Ensure timely management of multiple lines of communication between project officers, beneficiaries, staff, management and relaying pertinent information to appropriate parties.
  • Receive, reviewing of all field reports and create comprehensive donor reports.
  • Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
  • Support in project procurement.
  • Ensure standards and quality requirements are met through constant improvement in project interventions and support Quality Improvement Plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports.

June 2020: St. Joseph Development Programmes.

  Position: Social Worker/Project Officer.

  Key Achievements:

  • Assisted in the development of livelihood SOPs.
  • Assisted the Programmes in development of working tools.
  • I managed to recruit more than 50 beneficiaries within a short time and realized the project’s projected goal.
  • I assisted in mapping out of target areas within the informal settlement of Kangemi.
  • Participated in COVID Response activities that addressed food, rent, medication and sanitary towels concerns brought by an economic hardship pressure presented by COVID 19 pandemic. The interventions were meant to facilitate economic recovery approaches to the beneficiaries.
  • Proposed and assisted in the increased livelihood learning sites.
  • Participated in proposal writing process that saw my input being considered during implementation of successful proposals.
  • Offered psychosocial support to more than 20 families that had separated during COVID period.
  • Offered Psychosocial support to over 30 SGBV survivors and assisted in their community reintegration process.

  Responsibilities at St. Joseph Development Programmes:

  • Recruitment of the most at risk adolescent girls and young women into the Programme.
  • To offer psychosocial support.
  • To help implement individual development  plans for all beneficiaries
  • To identify individual development plans.
  • To identify active beneficiaries and empower them through skills and access to resources.
  • To lead livelihood intervention Programme
  • To train beneficiaries on fundamental skills.
June 2016 - May 2020:Likuyani Sub-County Hospital,  Ministry of Health Services ;Kakamega County

Position:  Medical Social Worker – In charge of Medical Social Work Department.

Key Achievements:

  • I managed to introduce more source document tools/systems that improved in capturing more detailed information that was used in assessing the hospital’s ability to handle some cases.
  • Introduced counseling services to both out and inpatient departments.
  • I introduced more activities in the outreaches besides immunization of children and family planning.
  • I advocated for social work functions and as a result, the hospital was able to closely monitor and understand its clients.
  • Improved service delivery through assessing and analyzing client's information.
  • Introduced social rehabilitation and reintegration services a move that saw the community change its behaviour in handling its members.
  • Improved HIV/AIDS education sessions from 2 to 3 every month at CCC.
  • As an interdisciplinary worker, I introduced a working relationship that impressed consultations from health providers in the facility regarding client conditions and related concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Psycho-social interventions.
  • Assisted many clients to disclose their HIV/AIDS status resulting in enhanced adherence and prolonged life.
  • Practically supported many clients through the provision of condoms, home visits, and legal support.
  • Improved taking of clients’ information.
  • Through networking, I managed to provide/address clients’ felt needs.
  • Participated in the information of more psychosocial support groups from 3 to 6 to address the needs of more clients. Separated peads, adolescents and adults besides expectant mothers at the comprehensive care center.
  • Assisted in the preparation of topics as per the needs of clients during support group sessions and meetings.
  • Provision of advice to Doctors/Clinical officers before discharge of clients. 
  • Enhanced coordination of activities within and outside the facility.
  • Prompted the formation of a Waiver/Exemptions Committee in the hospital as per the circular of The Ministry of Health to address economic hardship cases of clients.
  • Improved client referrals/linkages to various service delivery points/facilities/agencies.  
  • Managed to assist the hospital to rescue many of its clients. I reduced the once considered unknown cases to find some places to stay.
  • Participating in ward rounds enabled me to identify cases for social investigations.

 

June - Dec 2016:Likuyani Sub-County Hospital

Position: HTS Counselor

Key Achievements:

  • 100% linkage of HIV positive clients to care and treatment besides follow-ups.
  • Reduced the number of suspected treatment failure clients (STFs) from 56 clients to 12 clients in six months.
  • Enabled the facility to realize its HTS set targets.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist the hospital to reach its HTS target as set out in its work plan.
  • To create awareness and provide education about the existence of HIV testing service.
  • To lead in the mobilization of clients for HTS.
  • To provide pre/post-test HIV counseling by ensuring that clients understand risk factors, prevention methods, and other relevant issues
  • To provide confidential HIV testing information to clients, as per national HTS guidelines.
  • To document and maintain accurate HTS records including referrals and reports on referral outcomes.
  • To Compile and submit HTS reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to the supervisor.
  • To timely request for all the necessary consumables for undertaking HTS activities.
  • To participate in HTS Quality Assurance activities like PT and counseling supervision.

 

July 2013 - Dec 2015:Ministry of Gender and Social Development - Mumias District

Position: Volunteer as a Social Worker

Key Achievements:

  • Assisted in the development of group training structures.
  • Improved the uptake of Women Enterprise Fund loans from 23 to 76.
  • Increased group training and formation.
  • Increased the recruitment of people living with disabilities through awareness campaigns.
  • My involvement in the group’s activities realized increased revenue collection by about 30% every year.
  • Group’s financial mismanagement case reduced from 20 to less than 5 per year in the entire district.
