I am Procurement and Logistics Professional with over 8 years experience in goods and services procurement. Having worked for a leading real estate firm in Kenya, i have acquired relevant experience in both local and international sourcing of suppliers and other service providers, contract negotiations, tendering processes, bid evaluations, tender awards, logistics coordination etc.

Experience

Procurement Officer; Centum Real Estate Limited; 2014-2021

Strategic Sourcing and Procurement of Goods and Services. This involved the following activities;

  • Shortlisting suppliers both locally and internationally. I was able to achieve this by web search and referrals from project consultants, i would prepare and issue request for quotations (RFQs) and request for proposals (RFPs), and also request the suppliers to submit other relevant credentials. Submissions from these requests would be used primarily as the screening criteria for new suppliers and service providers. I maintained a central supplier's database which i would update regularly and anytime a new suppliers was prequalified.
  • Request for Quotations/ Proposals and bids evaluation. In accordance with the company's procurement policy, i would lead in receiving and evaluating the submissions from the suppliers. The company utilized a project management software called Procore for construction tenders which i was the administrator. For goods and services, we used spreadsheets, and documented reports on Ms. Word documents.
  • Logistics Coordination. This involved coordinating shipping for goods procured abroad, working in liaison with the clearing agents to clear goods at customs warehouses, coordinating local transport, offloading, verification, storage and handover to contractors while as documenting the whole process.
  • After satisfactory confirmation of delivery i.e. by counterchecking deliveries against the issued specifications and quantity, i would prepare payment request documentation which i would lodge into the companies ERP system called procure. Here, the 

Project Administration: Centum Real Estate Limited; 2013-2014

  • Coordination of project teams. During my early years at Centum Real Estate, i was tasked with institutionalizing the company's project management software called procore. The software was an enterprise resource planning system which was procured purposely for efficient management of project teams, centralized communication and data storage. All this was aimed at achieving efficiency in terms of time, cost management and team's accountability.
  • Project Finance Support. I assisted the project finance function by coordinating projects payments processes. I received suppliers and contractor's invoices, verified accuracy and ensured they aligned to the budgets and contract provisions i.e. payments against milestones, raised payment requests for approval by authorized signatories, ensured timely payments as provided in the contracts and documented the whole process.
  • Other office support. This included tasks such as project meeting coordination, formulating meeting agendas, documenting meeting minutes. I was also responsible for receiving and orienting new staff members.

Bachelors Degree in Procurement and Logistics. KCA University. Year 2015 to Current.
