1.Background information

Born and brought up in Central Kenya. I have a Bachelor in Education (English Language and Literature) and Masters in Education (Counselling Psychology) both from Kenyatta University. Done several short courses and lengthey experience.

Resillient, focused to success, flexible but conscious of timelines, self driven, assertive but emphathic, team player and open to constructive criticicism. 

Sensitive to and respects diversity. Can easily interact with people of all ages and gender and  well travelled within Kenya and few surrounding countries.

Likes exploring, learning and respects others opinions and views.  Excellently communicats in both written and oral English, moderately in Kiswahili and fluentl in Kikuyu languages.   

3. Experience

I have worked for 35 years since I left University. Taught for 9 years in Secondary schools, moved to KICD for 18 years plus 2 years of Secondment in South Sudan. Left KICD for counsultancies and latest was a 5 year contract by a Faith Based organization. 

Worked on consultancies for international organizations like Windle Trust International, World University Services Canada, Voulunteer Services Overseas, Africa Education Trust; and UN bodies like UNICEF, UNESCO, UNDP and Unwomen.

Experience

Grace is a seasoned international educationist with over 20 years’ experience in various education programmes. Grace worked for 18 years as a National and International curriculum developer under the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development. She was in Charge of Gender Mainstreaming and Life Skills Education in the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, developing various curricula, programmes, materials, conducting research and training trainers in various fields.  She worked as a curriculum mentor and coach under UNDP/IGAD for two years and as a curriculum consultant under UNESCO, for 1 year both in South Sudan.  Grace has developed several curricula for one several programmes as a trainer programmes’ developer for organizations such as Girl Child Network, Africa Education Trust, World Reader, Amka, I Choose Life-Africa, Life Skills Promoters, Kenya National AIDS Control Council and Kenya Staff Management institute among many. Her areas of specialization include curriculum development, Life skills, Gender, Creating Child Friendly Zones, Organizational Behaviour, coaching on team building, contemporary issues like drug and substance abuse, HIV and AIDS, Disaster Risk Reduction, Peace building among many. Grace has a Masters in Guidance and Counselling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature, English Language and Linguistics. She is an author and an editor. Grace has a great passion for training and writing. She is very creative, innovative, hardworking and able to multi task. Grace is currently the Education Secretary, Diocese of Thika. She has beena lead consultant for WUSC in a Life skills Holiday Camp for Girls in the Refugee camps and Host communities. She is also a lead consultant for Window Trust International for a project on capacity building Boards of Management for schools..
