Currently the Technical director for Skylink Technologies ltd, an engineering contracting company that specializes in power system specifications, Installations and maintenance. My role is to oversee the overall growth plan of the business through developing and implementing plans and strategies to grow the company’s customer base. Enlarge the company’s service portfolio by developing service offerings that take advantage of existing opportunities in our market.

I also ensure availability of proper qualified staff to execute projects effectively with compliance to all safety procedures. My role oversees all project planning and execution.

 

March 2012 to June 2022

Worked with Huawei Technologies Southern Africa Regional Office as Senior Engineer - Energy and Infrastructure. Main responsibilities include:

  1. Energy product solution development.
  2. Technical management of energy product rollout projects in the region.
  3. Energy products support.
  4. Customer and project team training during project delivery.

 

I successfully led deployment teams that delivered several energy projects across the region as technical project manager. Implemented project delivery scope and quality management plans with Huawei ISDP (Integrated Service Delivery Platform).

 

Built and managed teams that successfully delivered projects within quality standards and cost effectively, while covering the project scope within set timelines. Developed standard operating procedures (SOP) for delivery teams and carried out trainings for implementation engineers and end user customers. 

I was seconded to run many projects in the region as shown in my activity list below due to excellent project execution and delivery track record.

 

October 2008 to February 2012.

Worked with Airtel Kenya as Energy Manager. Responsibilities included:

  1. Network Power planning and Energy Optimization.
  2. Spearheaded energy OPEX saving initiatives.
  3. Managed implementation of all power projects in the network.
  4. Main data centers and Nodal sites management, including air-conditioning, Fire detection & suppression system, Generator maintenance and space planning.
  5. Testing new power equipment before deployment in the Network.
  6. Managed maintenance of energy equipment in Airtel Network.
  7. Participated in procurement process of all energy related services and equipment, including 
    1. Solution design.
    2. Generation of BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and SOW (Scope of Works).
    3. Development of Request for Quotations documents.
    4. Tender Evaluation and Supplier technical capability recommendation.
  8. Responsible for management of the MS (Managed Service) Passive contract between Airtel and NSN (Nokia Siemens).

 

I was responsible for and spearheaded the refurbishment of power system at Airtel’s main switching center at Parkside Towers. The existing power system had run for more than 10 years and was now facing capacity challenges and frequent breakdowns. I implemented a project that changed the entire cooling system, installed additional 2MVA diesel generator and replaced the entire DC power distribution system.

 

February 2006 to September 2008

  1. Worked with Kenya Power and Lighting Company as a Planning/Design Engineer. 
  2. The main responsibility was design and construction of power distribution lines.
  3.  Design and construction of secondary distribution power lines of voltages (11KV, 33KV) and low voltage lines (415V and 240V). 
  • Performed switching operations on KPLC distribution system.
  • Responsible for monthly performance reporting in Western region of KPLC in design and construction department based in Kisumu.
  • Managed distribution power line construction projects.

 

 August 2003 to January 2006

  1. Worked with Mantrac (k) Limited as a Service Engineer. 
  2. Mantrac is the official Caterpillar dealer in Kenya. 
  3. Responsibilities included generator and changeover panel installation, repair and maintenance. 
  4. Generators worked on range from 12KVA to 1.5MVA power rating.
  5. Performed repair and maintenance on caterpillar earth moving machines. This covered the whole range of Caterpillar product line.

  • Strathmore University Energy Research Center July 2023: T3 Grid TIE Solar Training.
  • University of Liverpool, from June 2016 to July 2019: Master of Science degree in Corporate Finance.
  • Moi University Eldoret Kenya, from August 1998 – April 2003: Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Degree In Electrical and Communication Engineering, Second-Class Honors Lower Division.
