About Gideon Musau:

I know all clauses to be incorporated in general insurance products, procedures to follow in both Life and general Insurance Claims, sourcing for new business development, acquisition and retention of new clients among other insurance protocols.

I am currently taking Diploma in Insurance course at College of Insurance, South C Nairobi. So far, I have accomplished four units namely: Introduction to Insurance (Credit), Legal Aspects of Insurance (Distinction), Principles of Insurance (Distinction) and Life Skill (Non-examinable). Having earned my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from University of Nairobi, I have in the past 6 years learnt with a lot of passion to use Statistical programming language known as “R” and forecasting skills to tailor input cost of production while generating positive income. Prior to my graduate studies, I enjoyed working in two diverse areas as a sales and debt collection agent. In this capacity, I have been able to be an effective financial advisor, risk and asset manager, and develop new businesses for the organizations I have worked for. I also gained a lot, as I became equipped with experience in excellent customer service, administrative support positions and background knowledge of financial institution operations, with increasing levels of responsibility.

My strong initiative and exceptional organizational skills has natured me to play a very crucial role in fast-paced insurance sector – one which requires a person who can handle pressure, discrete information at high level and cash with a lot of trustworthiness. I am an expert in interpreting insurance policy document clauses, claim settlement negotiation procedures, direct selling techniques, debiting and crediting, data entry, raising renewal notices, premium collection, sourcing for customized quotations and aware of insurance procedures and code of conduct. I have generated statistical analysis of quality and traceability spreadsheets to determine the linear relationship of unreconciled documents and premiums or amounts charged by insurance and other companies.

Fieldwork while working as a Senior Claims and Underwriting Officer at Nelion Insurance Brokers Limited has helped me revitalize my negotiation skills, familiarize with numerous clients on monthly basis creating a strong bond. Site visits have exposed me to learn a lot on evaluating levels of risk(s), frequency and severity of risk(s), uncertainty of the risk(s) exposed, how to classify hazards on-site and characteristics of the risk(s) which are insurable before entering into contract with the prospect or entering the data collected into end-to-end processing system. I have mastered the piece of multitasking and duty sharing while working in as team to increase levels of productivity. In addition to my extensive office experience, I have strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to providing excellent customer service and excellent administrative skills. I have been recognized in current job for highest acquisition and retention of new customer in last five years and my abilities to organize events and take responsibility for client satisfactory service.

Selected accomplishments 
• I have mastered the piece of analyzing investment options and friendly suggestion for suitable insurance cover hence creating a strong bond with the client. The strong bond build between the existing clients and I has been rewarding 
because of 95% successful renewals, 80% future business initiations and 60% fruitful referrals. 
• I have implemented standardized filing system with electronic forms to assist in timely processing of documents, archiving settled claims and underwriting 
documents. This eliminated departmental use of paper files, leading to 80% improvement in file access and underwriting work. This has also spearheaded costs-reduction on reorder level for printing papers and envelopes 
by 75% weekly 
• I have built a rapport between the client and my firm through sourcing customized bank rates for Insurance Premium Financing. This has improved the challenge of collecting small premiums by 80%. 
• I recommended use of WhatsApp enabled Smart Phone. This has brought a positive vibe to the customers who had 
challenges sending documents and accessing product catalogue
