I am an accomplished executive and initiative driven leader keen with a proven track record of performance turnaround and effective management of company operations. With a background in finance and banking, I have gained over 15 years of experience in the service industry excelling in operations management, personnel management, relationship management, Credit management, financial management and business development and management. Standard Chartered Bank, Kericho branch; June 2013 - Sept 2017

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business leader for Standard Chartered Bank in Kericho and Bomet counties, in an area of 1.5 million residents and leading a team of 12 servicing 4500 clients.
  • Implementing the bank’s business goals and vision 
  • Provided leadership to the team by coaching, training, motivating and managing staff performance. 
  • Supported branch transformation initiatives roll out and implementation.
  • Budget making- responsible with the making of the branch budget and monitoring to ensure that whatever is budgeted at the beginning of the year is followed through and delivered on
  • Ensured that credit is administered as per the laid-out credit guidelines, monitor and make decisions on challenging or complex accounts and carry out loan appraisals. 
  • Ensured excellent customer service by providing prompt and efficient response and resolution of customer complaints. 
  • Prepared and implemented the branch marketing strategies and plans, identify and pursue areas of profitable business,

Bank of Africa (BOA), Kericho branch; Jan 2010 - June 2013       

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Championed the entry of Bank of Africa into the South Rift region through the establishment of the Kericho branch which targeted an area of 1M residents. 
  • In charge of the Business growth and development of the branch in terms of Assets and Liability.
  • Prepared and implemented the branch marketing strategies and plans, identify and pursue areas of profitable business

  • Credit analysis/ financial analysis – always analyzed all the client’s proposal to see that they actually qualify for the facilities requested and followed through to ensure that the conditions attached to their approvals are followed through to the letter

  • Lead the establishment of the first ever branch in Keroka serving over 600,000 area residents.

  • Customer Service within the policies/procedure’s guidelines of the bank
  • In-charge of Budget preparation and implementation

Key Achievements

  • Achieved break-even and then profitability within the first nine months of operation
  • Built client base to 10,253 against a target of 12,650 per annum within the first nine months of operations
  • Generated an asset base of Kes 300 million within the first nine months of operations
  • Grew branch liabilities deposit to Kes 425 million within the first nine months
  • Installing three ATMS at two different Sacco Premises – Nyansiongo Farmers Sacco etc.
