Legal
About Steve Otundo:
I am a young Kenyan male with the will to learn new things and gain more knowledge. I pride myself in my hardworking spirit that has bought me this far. I work well as an individual when given individual tasks. Whatever I get my hands to do I do to the best of my ability and I do not shy away from asking in instances where I may not understand the task given to me. Despite the fact that I have good knowledge of the law I have not limited myself to law. I have branched into other fields of education and gained various skills. One such skill is my knowledge of Information Communication Technology. This is a simple skill but very effective when it comes to handling computers and other machines in the office environment. Apart from focusing on work relating activities I also engage in various co-curricular activities that go hand in hand with my legal skills.
Experience
January 2018- December 2018: OKOTH & KIPLAGAT ADVOCATES
Worked as a law pupil as part of my Kenya School of Law education. This being the practical bit of the course. In the firm I was tasked with doing various duties that included research, meeting with clients, data entry, going to court, drafting of legal documents that included conveyancing, commercial transactions, civil procedure documents and criminal procedure documents as well as doing various field activities.
February 2020- June 2020: MINISTRY OF LABOR AND SOCIAL SERVICES
Worked as a data entry clerk in the social services department, aiding in getting data for the elderly, less privileged and people with disabilities.
August 2020- December 2022: AKELLO KARUGA & CO. ADVOCATES
Worked as a researcher and drafter for the firm on matters conveyancing and commercial transactions. As I was not admitted to the bar at the time of starting my work at the firm, I did not attend court or represent any client in court. My duties were limited to meeting clients and giving legal advice and drafting documents and going to the field where need arose. My work here coincided with my role as researcher at the PARLIAMENT because the role at parliament was very flexible and on part-time basis and I could perform both tasks.
November 2021: ADMISSION TO THE ROLL OF ADVOCATES
Admitted as an advocate of the high court of Kenya.
January 2019-August 2022: PARLIAMENT OF KENYA (THE SENATE)
Worked as a researcher at the parliament of Kenya. My role was researching on various issues concerning legislation and the creation of laws in Kenya. I also researched of various statements that would be tabled on the floor of the house.
