Site supervisor

(August 2022 – Present)

  • Coordinating storage of FFV and FMCG products using; first in first out (FIFO), First expired first out (FEFO), and just in time (JIT).
  • Create a scheduled work plan for the day’s intakes and coordinate with purchasers to establish ETA of vehicles.
  • Resource allocation at the beginning of every shift based on the tonnage expected or dispatched per given day, such as shrink wrapping material, MHE operators, pallets and crates.
  • Conduct labor allocation and devised new operational processes that led to a 25% increase in productivity.
  • Oversee all inbound activities including labor allocation, inventory management, asset control, scanning and put away jobs, WMS entries and lastly stock availing.
  • Oversee all outbound activities including; labor allocation, let down and picking jobs, asset management, scanning and dispatch.
  • Oversee supplier returns at the point of intake for items, which are non-conforming.
  • Regularly conduct stock takes and warehouse audits to ascertain quantities present, quality and shelf life.
  • Regularly partake in updating of the WMS system and SOP for the inbound and outbound process.
  • Participate in the process mapping procedures of new products and SKU’s
  • Availing of stocks while corresponding with commercial and market research teams. 

 

Ripening Technologist ;

(October 2019 – July 2022)

  • Implement all aspects related to the set Twiga’s ripening program to ensure compliance with customer requirements and expectations.
  • Operate and adjust cold rooms both physically and remotely to guarantee the best quality output adhering to the set out schedule date of sale. 
  • Supervise floor staff to warrant proper food handling practices and quality standards are met.
  • Checking facilities such as refrigeration rooms and Corresponding with maintenance department to ensure proper operation of the chambers.
  • Keeping Real-time records of stock inventory levels against sales forecasts and targets while guaranteeing minimal losses.
  • Regularly set and participate in updating the standard of operation (SOP) to grow business and prevent customer issues.

Quality and Food safety roles:

  • Perform quality inspections of product upon arrival, sampling, processing and validate product and location documentation is maintained daily; to include inspection logs, inventory control logs, ripening room logs and warehouse supply logs.
  • Generating reports such as compliance reports, monitoring trackers, dispatch, audits and root cause analysis
  • Quality & Safety: Manage the quality standards for products to minimize losses (<1%) for all products as well as to deliver the organizations promise of low-cost quality and safe food.
  • Conduct daily quality audits of stock in storage.
  • Oversee and supervise all QC activities to safeguard quality conformance.

Inventory Management:

  • Inventory Risk Management: conducting quality inspections, and the implementation of ripening cycles and processes, data recording, Cold room management.
  • Manage inventory on a daily and weekly basis, perform daily inventory management, traceability and reconcile as needed with Finance.
  • Data Capture & Reporting: Conducting inventory cycle counts to verify against the ripening schedule and promptly inform on risks on order fulfillment to sales or over-stocking risks from sourcing based on the chambers capacity and days required to ripen stock.

Occupational health and Safety:

  • Training of floor staff on workplace safety rules, Food safety and 5S.
  • Monitor all HSE procedures and recommend strategies to avoid accidents and implement all health and safety hazards for all sites.
  • First Aid Responder.
  • Report any accidents and near misses and give recommendations.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment that is OSHA compliant; establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Any other duties as required and as assigned from time to time.

 

2. National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) – Sep 2018 – Nov 2018

Service Engineer and processing Intern

 

  • Lab work that involved Grading of produce before storing in silos, to ascertain quality and grade, testing of aflatoxins in maize.
  • Weighing of vehicles at weighbridge and ensuring conformance before storage and dispatch
  • Repairing of worn out machine components such as bucket conveyors, hoppers and trunking.
  • Regular cleaning of magnets, greasing and oiling of moving parts.
  • Warranting dryers are in good working condition before operation.
  • System Control i.e. allocating specific routes and conveyors for various produce and the designated silos as well.
  • Taking inventory and Generating Intake and grading Reports.
