At the core of my philosophy is a student-centered approach that empowers learners to take ownership of their education. I design interactive and relevant lessons that connect to real-world experiences, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and adaptability. I believe in collaborative learning, encouraging peer interaction and teamwork, which nurtures effective communication and interpersonal skills. As an advocate for continuous improvement, I embrace lifelong learning and encourage my students to do the same. Experience
I, as the Managing Director of Engage Educational Consultants Ltd. in Kigali, am responsible for organizing and conducting in-service training for Primary teachers and ECD personnel, mapping and planning the Early Years curriculum, providing guidance and counseling for teens and preteens, strengthening school leadership and management systems, and conducting educational research.
During my role as an Education Advisor (Literacy and Numeracy) from May 2021 to September 2022 at Voluntary Service Overseas in Rwanda, my tasks included mentoring and supervising education project field officers, planning and implementing activities, designing a National Field Team Capacity Development Framework, supervising the Special Needs Education Coordinator, training various education stakeholders, and participating in monitoring and evaluation activities.
From January 2017 to March 2021, I served as the Head of School and teacher at Sunshine Valley Academy. In my capacity as a School Administrator, I managed school procedures, developed the Learning through Play program, oversaw marketing and admissions, recruited staff, maintained school records, and ensured a child rights-focused environment. As a teacher, I prepared and delivered learning content, ensured child safety, attended to psycho-emotional needs, and collaborated with colleagues.
Between July 2012 and November 2016, I worked as a trainer of ECDE and Primary school teachers at Shanzu Teachers’ Training College. As part of my responsibilities, I served as Dean of Students, overseeing welfare committees, student clubs, accommodation, and more. Additionally, I trained teachers, assessed their performance, identified training needs, and guided teaching practices.
During my time as a teacher trainer at Nyando ECDE Teachers’ Training College from August 2010 to August 2011, I conducted training for ECDE and Primary teachers and was also responsible for guidance and counseling services.
Education
In terms of academic qualifications, I completed a Master of Education in Early Childhood Studies from Kenyatta University between 2014 and 2019. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education with First Class Honors from Kenyatta University, spanning from 2008 to 2012
