About Mutuku Katia:

I am a community development, WASH, and SRH specialist, with over 5 years of experience in project management, proposal development, and project implementation. I have a track record of successful project management, stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, reporting, policy review, strategic planning behavior change, and capacity building using participatory approaches. Successfully lobbied for funds and implemented projects funded by USAID, Charity: water, Viva con Agua, NORAD, and other private donors. I seek to contribute my knowledge and transferable skills to an organization that shares a similar approach to growth and development within the community.

  • Works for the organization as a Field officer in the implementation of a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects. I have worked in two counties ie. Makueni and currently in Kitui.
  • Takes the lead in donor report writing and proposal development for WASH, nutrition, livelihood, and innovation startups projects.  Most recent being the USAID proposal, which if funded, the 5 years projects will be implemented in Makueni, Kitui and Marsabit. 
  • Leads in planning and training target community on health, hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, and project management and organization. To date through the training, we have reached over 9000 community members with the same topics and linked them with other key stakeholders in the same field. 
  • Takes lead in stakeholder engagement (Networking, representation, and collaboration) and community mobilization. 
  • Plays a major role during the monitoring and evaluation of ongoing WASH projects that will serve over 9,000 persons and completed, effectively operational water pipeline extension projects serving over 60,000 persons.
  • Assists in conducting of baseline and endline surveys for the charity: water-funded WASH projects, data analysis, and development reports.
  • Takes lead in new WASH and school infrastructure development projects identification.
  • Takes lead in projects operational work plan development in accordance with the budget, log frame, administrative guidelines approved by WHH.

I choose Life Africa in Girl Education Challenge Project 

  • Volunteered and later attached at I choose Life Africa in Girl Education Challenge Project where I mentored over 1000 learners in Sexual reproductive health, Economic empowerment, Academic and career guidance, Leadership, and governance (SEAL) model both in primary and secondary schools at Laikipia north and west which was a major contribution to achieving retention and transition of 10,123 marginalized girls in Laikipia county.
  • Took part in donor reports writing, impact stories development, and proposals development.

2018 Jan-2019 Aug

Equity Wings to Fly program.

  • Led a team of 20 volunteer mentors and mentored over 200 scholars supported by the equity wings to fly program on value-centered life, academic excellence, leadership, and governance. 90% of the scholars got a government sponsorship to public universities. 

2017Jan -2018 Dec

  Laikipia university's mentorship club

  • Led Laikipia university's mentorship club where I increased the number of active members by 40% by recruiting new people and motivating non-active existing volunteers to engage with the club. Together with the team I led, we managed to reach 1000+ Learners from over 20 schools. I

Serves as the BOM chair Kongo primary school where among other duties of the office, I have taken the responsibility to ensure that the school has a sustainable food program through sourcing of funds from other organization and leading the school community in implanting of the project.
