About Mtungu Mwakangalu:
Dr. Dickson Mwakangalu is a seasoned public health professional with a proven record of accomplishment of managing and implementing programs in maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), family planning (FP), reproductive health (RH), adolescent health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB, TB/HIV, DR TB), Malaria and other infectious diseases. I have in-depth knowledge about disease prevention, clinical management, research, emergency preparedness, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, specifically in resource poor settings. I have experience managing several donors funded projects especially USG and DFID and familiar with donor related administrative, management, and reporting procedures and systems. Through my leadership in primary health care initiatives, I have participated in review of national guidelines, scale up of innovations, facilitated the roll out of training programs for health care providers and built the capabilities of national, county and facility level staff to continuously provide quality health care. I am a result oriented, hands-on, self-starter professional fluent in English and Kiswahili.
Experience
Worked as the Kenya PMI funded Impact Malaria Project Chief of Party/ project director. Previous work experience include Deputy Chief of Party in Afya Timiza, a USAID funded FP/RMNCHAH, Nutrition and WASH project implemented by Amref Health Africa Kenya in Turkana and Samburu Counties, Public Health Specialist at the US embassy in Kenya, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Global HIV and TB in the portfolio of HIV prevention and treatment among key and priority populations and Director of Technical Services at Pathfinder International, Kenya office, among other roles.
