Maryann Wanjiru

i am Maryann Watetu a social worker by profession at the moment i do volunteer with Nipe Sauti Africa a community based organisation engaging community outreach activities. I also work as lecturer at East Africa institute of Development studies as a social science lecturer. I am passionate in humanitarian  works and working with the less privileged in the communities. working with an organisation dealing with the less privileged will help me not only develop my career but also work in an area i am passionate in.

Duties in the institution

I am instructing student in social science units majorly social work, community health, disaster

management and community health providing insightful advice how to man oeuvre through their

college work and college life, prepare scheme of work for the lessons allocated and share with

colleagues, the institution head of academics and the head of the social work department on

classes and lesson that I have been allocated in the month so as to have efficiency in delivery of

services.

MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AND COORDINATION OF GOVERNMENT NYANDARUA COUNTY

I engaged in the following: registration of birth and death certificates for Nyandarua  North

Constituency, the drive for continuous improvement of capturing the birth and death data in the

County, set priorities and achieve deadline, orienting new recruits, ensured the team member

MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL PROTECTION, NAIROBI KENYA, 

January 2015-March 2015 -

Worked as an attaché at the ministry of labour, social security and services under the department

where I did the following: Assisting in social protection program namely older persons cash

transfer, social welfare cases, street families and persons with disabilities, Counseling and

dispute resolution, Front office receiving and registration of clients, compiling data and keeping

records.

VOLUNTEERING

I have also been a volunteer in HHFL where I was involved in activities such as: Guidance and

counseling, How to be responsible to both the society and themselves by ensuring that they have

acceptable behavior, engaged in extra-curricular activities which include; -drawing, games

JANUARY 2017- APRIL 2017 - CHERYL’S CHILDREN HOME

I have also been a volunteer at Cheryl’s children home where I engaged in: Keeping of records,

admission of new children into the home and filing reports for the children living in the home.

Guidance and counseling. Participated in extra-curricular activities. Observing hygiene.

SEPTEMBER 2016 - PRESENT - NIPE SAUTI AFRICA

I am a volunteer at Nipe Sauti Africa a charitable organization and have been the head of

Entrepreneur on the organization that offers services such as: Hospital clean-up we basically do

our cleaning in Texas cancer centers, visiting of children homes and day cares where we share

love, offer support morally and materially and share warm moments with the kids and the staff,

Visit home for the disabled like Mother Teresa charity home based in Langata, Motivational

speaking especially in schools, done a computer project for two schools, Done a brick building

project in Makueni County to build a school and other noble charity work with an aim of making

the less fortunate feel part of the community
