About Mary Ndambuki:

As a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience working with multilateral donors, international and local institutions across various sectors such as health, education, women empowerment, waste management and financial inclusion. I have effectively handled grants management, financial management, portfolio management of projects implementing in Africa, Asia and Middle East. Among the highlights of my experience include administrative management and compliance oversight of prime awardsreviewing the progress of grants and ensuring the appropriate use of funds, designing, and developing operational systems, policies and procedures, portfolio management and handling risk and compliance reviews of for-profit and not-for profit entities. Additionally, I have handled pre-grant assessments to assess the financial capacity of new awardees in-order to mitigate against financial risks and losses to the donors by reviewing their internal controls and identifying their capacity gaps. I am also knowledgeable on the requirements and rules of institutional donors like USAID, FCDO, CDC, Global Fund, EU and SIDA. Given my experience I am seeking to work with an organization where my experience and skills can be utilized in ensuring the development of different communities. 

 

Experience

  • Grants and Sub Grants Management: Experienced in promoting accountability of grant processes, funds and compliance to donor requirements by awardees, conducting on site data verification visits, compiling progress reports to donors including disbursement forecasts and developing grants’ agreements as per donor requirements, 
  • Risk Management: Experienced in conducting organizational risk assessments, review of existing policies and drafting of new policies, and conducting compliance checks.
  • Financial Management: Experienced in; handling budget controls, ensuring the financial reports are accurate, analysis of month end financial statements and streamlining the financial processes and operations. 
  • Finance Skills: I have excelled in monitoring, preparing and reporting cash flow forecasting, ensuring compliance with treasury regulatory and exchange rules and financial risk is appropriately managed, preparation of management accounts & financial reports. 
  • Awardee capacity assessments and capacity building: Experienced in conducting robust due diligence procedures with an aim of ensuring long term value for money from grant expenditure by identifying potential weaknesses and risks and considering opportunities to enhance capacity before grants begin. 
  • Leadership skills: With excellent management skills, I successfully monitored the performance of the grants and finance team to ensure maintenance of service standards, encouraged, developed, and motivated staff and promoted close and cooperative working among the team members. 
  • Program Planning and Management: Experienced in planning and participating in the implementation and development of project activities by ensuring that all the strategizing and planning involved in the initial start of its implementation is incorporated. 
  • Detail oriented: I value accuracy and ensure every duty I undertake pays close attention to details and captures all the valuable data in terms of cost monitoring and compilation of detailed financial reports.
