Powell Tawa

Hi there, I'm Powell Tawa Onjor, and I'm a Journalism and Communication major with a passion for visual storytelling and multimedia production. I'm a skilled and versatile communicator with experience in radio, TV, and social media, and I'm adept at creating compelling content that engages audiences across different platforms.

I recently graduated from Daystar University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication. During my time there, I completed relevant coursework in Electronic Media Production, News Writing and Reporting, Media Ethics and Law, Multimedia Journalism, and Social Media and Digital Communication.

In terms of experience, I was a Radio Host for three years on the weekly radio show "Dating 101" on Shine FM in Machakos. I hosted and produced the show, which focused on dating and relationships and featured expert guests and interviews with listeners. I conducted extensive research and developed engaging and informative content for each show, and also managed the show's social media accounts to promote it and engage with listeners. I collaborated with producers and technical staff to ensure smooth production and broadcast.

I also worked as a Social Media Specialist for Shine FM, managing social media accounts for multiple clients, creating and scheduling content, and analyzing metrics. I developed and executed social media strategies to increase engagement and drive traffic to websites, and conducted research to inform content and strategy. I collaborated with team members and clients to ensure successful social media campaigns.

In addition, I was a Video Production Intern at Powefrau Technology in Mombasa, where I assisted in all aspects of video production, including pre-production planning, shooting, and editing. I operated cameras, lights, and sound equipment during shoots, and assisted in the editing and post-production process. I also participated in brainstorming sessions and contributed creative ideas to video projects.

Some of my skills include strong writing and editing skills for different audiences and platforms, proficiency in audio and video production, experience in social media management and digital marketing, and skills in on-camera presentation and public speaking. I'm also skilled in research and analysis.

In my free time, I enjoy photography and videography for visual storytelling and multimedia production, writing and blogging for different audiences, public speaking and acting for on-camera presentation and communication, social media management and digital marketing, and travel and cultural exploration for curiosity and seeking out new and unique stories to tell.
