About Martin Otieno:

I am a Supply Chain management professional with a wealth of experience and skills in transport, logistics and and inventory management. I possess a National Diploma in Transport Management and a BSc. Degree in International Business Administration. Currently I am taking a Masters Degree in Procurement and Contract Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. I am strong in people management, Logistics management and staff training and induction. .

Experience

I have handled the Logistics  function (procurement and warehousing) and the transport function in all the assignments that I have handled involving huge fleets and personnel. I have been able to plan and manage procurement functions starting from planning to delivery and supplier management; I have managed teams of customer service officers in designing transportation/logistics related products to suit customers’ needs, I have also managed sub-contracted transportation/warehousing services. My current assignment is with Bulto Suppliers and transporters as the Operations manager for the last four and half years. I am charged with management of a time sensitive countrywide distribution of medical commodities (medicines and medical equipment) from Kemsa. I coordinate the entire supply chain from availing the required resources, supervising the chain unlocking all the bottlenecks encountered in the process, promoting the supply chain visibility by ensuring proper and timely reporting of the progress and managing the reverse logistics. I also develop strategic approaches to enable the company keep abreast with the latest developments in the supply chain environment ensuring that the constantly changing client requirements are met without straining the resources available at my disposal. I have also had an opportunity to work for the Greek Olive Zambia, a hotel chain in Zambia as a consulting supply chain manager for six months. I was charged to improve the supply chain department. I advised on the best supply chain practices ranging from procurement, warehousing and distribution. 

As part time engagement, I offer capacity development to organizations in Humanitarian supply chain training. My experience in supply chain management spans over 15 year

Education

I possess a National Diploma in Transport Management and a BSc. Degree in International Business Administration. Currently I am taking a Masters Degree in Procurement and Contract Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
