Margaret Gatambia

I am a result-oriented hands-on person. I am currently tasked with the management of new appointments, performance appraisals, promotions, training needs assessments, payroll management, preparation of pensions documents, managing deployments and placements, discipline, and employee wellness. I advise employees on personal financial management among others. I successfully headed the HR department of the Refugee Department for over five (5) years between 2016 and 2022. I managed to ensure the placement and deployment of staff according to their qualifications and the department workload. I have also participated in successful budget negotiations for funding for the department's activities.

Over 20 years of experience in HR Management in the Public Service with deployments in government ministries and departments such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of East African Community, Government Press, Ministry of Youth Affairs, and Department of Refugee Affairs. I worked at the Refugee Affairs Department for over five years between 2016 and 2022. I interacted a lot with UNHCR as our major partner in the management of refugee affairs in Kenya. I was able to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and I am therefore able to understand several cultural practices.  I supervise office staff and manage employee performance,

I am currently working in the state department for Tourism and deployed at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) I am in a task force mandated to review the Human resource management instruments namely, Human resources Policy, Career guidelines, and the organizational structure.

Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Moi University, a Higher Diploma in HR management, and a Diploma in Personnel Management from The Kenya Polytechnic (currently the Technical University of Kenya), a Diploma in Public Relations from Universal College. I have attended a Senior Management course at the Kenya School of Government and also attended a Supervisory management course.
